Does anybody know where on the internet I can find the acupuncture points for the tens unit to be placed in those areas? I'm in a lot of pain. I usually put the pads between the area that hurts but i heard that this was a much more affective way to use it. Thanks.

Hon, I don't know where the acupuncture points are but I can tell you what works for me. I have the four electrodes which I place on either side of my spine on my lower back (not ON the spine itself - an inch or so away). The first two electrodes are really more on the uppermost part of my buttocks and the other two are just a couple of inches above that I guess this is probably the sacral nerver area. Anyway when I hook it up I cross the leads so they are like in an X. This has given me a tremendous amount of relief. I tried putting the electrodes on the front in my bladder area when I first got the TENS and this aggravated my condition. I couldn't tolerate it - but on the back I got relief very quickly.
hope this helps.

I use just two of the electrodes. Both I put over the bladder area. Sometimes a little bit higher to help so the skin doesn't get sore from them being there all the time. I think it's different for everyone so you may have to place them around before you find what works for you. I know when I put the electrodes on my back it made the bladder and pain worse. Felt like something was hitting the bladder.

My uro told me to put one pad on the inner part of calf sort of part way up near the bone..don't know if it matters which leg.. Hard to tell it in writing.. I use mine mostly on back though.. having it right over the bladder just felt way to weird for me.. ~~Pam~~

Where Janie Miranda puts hers are over the acupuncture points for the bladder. They are called something like "liau" points. I usually put mine in the front over my bladder, but I have not had to use my machine in awhile.

PS where lararainbow was told (the thigh area) is where I was told too. One on the suprapubic area, one on the thigh on each side, and crisscross.

Thank you guys so much. The X thing really works!!! Ooohhhh. Sweet relief. ha ha. I can actually feel the muscle relaxing. Does anybody know what areas is dangerous to place the tens unit so tha I dont hurt myself? I've heard you cant put them in certain areas. Is this true? Why does just about every person mention putting it on the bladder? Is this on the front of the body or the back? Is this supposed to do something special? If its on the back is it just above the buttox? Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for helping me.

Leah,
Yeah if it is on the back put it just above the buttocks and do the X thingy. that is what works for me. When I put it on the front over or near the bladder it just made my symptoms worse. glad you found some help here.

I have used it both on the back and over the bladder. I personally like it over the bladder better, but as you can see, it is very individual.

The places you are not supposed to put them are:

On the temples of the head
On the carotid artery of the neck
Over the heart
On the uterus area when pregnant

So, nothing for us to worry about!

Hi
I am curious if you have it over bladder how do you avoid the ouch of the sticky pads in (excuse me) the hairs??? Yikes!!

Umm...It sticks to a few hairs here and there but it is not too bad. Sometimes I "trim" a little!

Those are the places that I use it too, though I don't do the X thing. My PT photocopied me a page about acupuncture points, and those are the points for the urethra (and maybe bladder? I'd have to check). I'm still experimenting, but so far it seems to be helping my urethral pain and frequency/urgency.

Does anyone know the benefit to crossing the wires in an X?
