Just found out a friend of mine has Sjogren's. She does not have IC. Just wondering if anyone has this, as I know some people with IC have it, and how you are doing?

I know it is a bit late in answering your thread but today I was tols I may have Sjogrens. I've been having a lot of trouble with dry eyes, mouth and throat. I went to the docs because I feel like I have lumps in my throat.
Anyway I'm back on the lists to see an ear nose and throat specialist and a rheumatologist. I had some of the symptoms before taking Endep (Elavil) which drys the eyes and mouth.
It may be a couple of months before I get any answers but if you like I will check into this thread and let you know anything I find out about Sjogrens.
How is your friend doing? Is she on any medication?

I have it, and it's apparently rare for people who are under 40 (I'm 21) :(
In terms of how it effects me, I have very sensitive inflamed eyes, which need to be lubricated constantly with eye gel (tell your friend not to use drops because they don't last for long, the gel works better), I also can't leave the house without sun glasses and the light, in my house, has to be fairly dim.
I have to drink spring water practically non-stop so I can swallow, or my throat blocks-up. I also can never go swimming since it irritates my eyes and skin. Well, I'm lucky that I at least don't have any vaginal dryness (gulp!)
It also causes muscle sourness, fatigue and digestive pains but some days are worse than others. The scariest part about it is that it can lead to inflammation around your heart and non-Hodgkin’s disease! *is scared* : o
Your friend should go on Celadrin for inflamation, if she hasn't already, and consider taking Flax Seed Oil and/or Fish Oil for the dryness
