Most of my friends have heard me tell the following story a few times... but I thought I'd share it with you too!
About a year into my IC, when the pain was so bad, I was really afraid to be touched. I had allodynia... which means that I had a massive nerve inflammation which covered my entire belly... from my breasts to my crotch. Just a finger tip soft touch would badly hurt. So, it was with great fear one day that I decided to have a massage going, of course, into great depth about how she couldn't touch my belly at all. Well... I walked in so fearfully. Who would have guessed that it would have been one of the most inspiring experiences of my life?
You see, near the end of the massage (which felt wonderful, by the way), she ran her hands above my body just briefly and then walked out of the room so that I could collect my thoughts. And as I lay there with my eyes closed, I had this absolute sensation that there were people standing around the table .. and that they were my grandparents and my ex-boyfriend (who had recently passed away) sending me a warm outpouring of love and hope. Their message was that I would get through my IC. I had had my doubts. It was such a powerful, moving moment... definitely one of the spiritual highlights of my lifetime.
Well, a few minutes later, the masseuse walked back into the room and I said "I just had the most amazing experience. I think my guardian angels were here." She got this beautiful smile and said "Of course they were. I called them for you." I believed her. That day, I needed reassurance and, somehow, it happened. I knew that I wasn't walking this journey alone. I was going to make it.
I can't even begin to tell you how comforting that was. I hadn't really thought of angels up to that point but I certainly believed in them afterwards and began collecting happy, whimsical ones. My first angel came from an after christmas sale rack. She has a beautiful deep red silk skirt with white & gold underskirt. She's been in my bedroom watching over me everynight since! It's just a comfort to me... and certainly we all deserve comforting at times. And even though I'm better now, I still rely on my angels every single day... and also try to be angel to others when I can.
So, I've added an ANGEL area to our shop because I thought that we can all use some inspiration every now and then. Just a month ago, I purchased a "Butterfly" angel for myself and thought, hmm, I bet others might find these comforting too! So, I hope you like them. Lainie's Ladies is an amazingly beautiful collection of angels.. and they are very affordable! Mine are hanging from my window as I write this!

And that's the news from the ICN offices
where the fall colors are blazing...
the sun is gently setting....
and I am on my journey home for the day!
