Started Elavil 2 weeks ago..little weary

I started taking Elavil a couple weeks ago. I take one 25 mg tablet at 7pm every night. Since then, I have a dry mouth and am very thirsty all the time. I also feel a little dizzy at times. Are these common symptoms of this drug or is it just me?

Nope, not just you at all. These are common symptoms from Elavil. If you enter the word Elavil into any search emgine, you will see a vast array of sites that show what the expected side effects are. If they are troublesome, you should call your doctor and discuss it with them. I have gotten dizzy and lethargic. It does dry you out (One site even suggest sucking on ice chips because if it and using eye drops like Thera Tears for eyes). It even makes you a little forgetful but from what I have been told, all this goes away or settles way down once you are used to the drug. I started at 10mg and am still at this level. You are taking a higher dose as well so you will get nmore of a whammy then I would at this point.

Yes those are common side effects. I'm in a study for this now. I started at 10mg, then went to 25, and now on 50 and am about to try 75 (wish me luck LOL). I've had a little of the dizziness, some constipation, some heartburn, but mostly, it tires me out. So I'm taking it a little earlier in the evening now, which helps. I have noticed though, with each increase in dosage, the side effects seem to only last the first few days. I have to say its been my miracle drug as far as my pain, though I haven't seen much of a help for the frequency/pressure/urgency.
