I was just curious if anyone experienced flares from yeast. I had HORRIBLE one a few weeks ago. I was (not to be graphic) so raw, that I could barely walk. I cleared it up with Terazol suppositories, but that made my outside area very sore. Ever since then, I have pain after urinating, as If my urethra is sore. Is flaring common with yeast infections? Thanks for any replies. Liz
Yep. :( Anytime I used to get a vaginal infection - bacterial or yeast - I would go into a flare. I have seen a lot of other people here say that, too.

Antibiotics are a great cause of yeast. Have you been on any? Some take acidophilis pills while on antibiotics to ward off yeast. Hope you feel better soon. Kathi

Did you see your doctor so you're certain it is yeast? I know there are some other conditions that can mimic yeast.

It was definitely yeast, I was diagnosed, but the after effect took me by surprise!! I didn't expect to feel "discomfort". How long does a flare like this last? liz

I usually have several days of a flare after a yeast infection. I find the OTC creams used for yeast make me worse, so I usually get my doc to prescribe either Diflucan or Nystatin. If the yeast has come from a round of antibiotics, taking L. acidophilus pills, eating yogurt, or using a supplement called Flora-Q can help me -- Flora-Q is a capsule with a mix of normal intestinal flora, including L. acidophilus, and replacing all that was killed by the antibiotics seems to help me out some.

My flares from yeast infections can last about 3-5 days. Although I normally improve as soon as I start treatment. I agree totally with Jen...OTC creams hurt!
