I am so frustrated at the cost of some of these meds we all take!! I have been out of one or the other for the past few weeks because I just can't afford all of them at once. We have insurance, but we have to pay a percentage. I guess I should be grateful that some of it gets paid for, but I still get upset about it. Does anyone else have this problem. I would like to know that I am not alone!!! What's so bad is that if I run out of medication, I start hurting and then I can't get my flare under control....Christie

I agree, the meds are outrageous! I was suppose to have started on Elmiron 2 weeks ago but at $200 for a months supply it was just too much along with $188 for vioxx, plus my imipramine, vicodine, atenolol, armour thyroid,& uristat.I lost my insurance at work & now no-one will insure me.I have a discount card but it doesn't help very much. The Elmiron will just have to wait a little longer. But I'm really glad You still have insurance to help you with some of the cost although I know it's still not cheap by any means!Hang in there and I hope you have a lot of good days.

There's information on this site about drug assistance programs --- you'll find the link on the "Browse Our Site" pull-down menu at the top of this page. If you don't qualify for help there, you might check http://www.canadameds.com to see what their prices are. We order several medications from them at a considerable savings to us.

FYI for all:
Try needymeds.com. Most of them require you have no insurance and are not eligible for medicaid and then they will send you a 3 month supply free or give you a card to get it at the pharmacy for 5$ or so. However, a couple of the companies will send them to you if you have insurance but just cannot afford them.

Hello, I have heard on the television that the president is blocking all the meds coming from Canada, has anyone had theirs cancelled or just told they are no longer doing it?
About the needymeds, I wonder why they just can't consider the person who needs the medicine. My husband will qualify for the pacenet, but I am only 62 and that does not go into effect until you are 65 years old.
Someone is checking some things out for me, I pray she finds some one who can help me get the medicine that I need. I do not want anything that I do not need, just the drugs that the doctors said I need to help with this disease.
I really appreciate all the information that I have received from the people on this site, as well as the the organization listings.
Thanks again for all your help. grouphug

So far I think the only thing they've been able to stop is the businesses that have sprung up all over the country --- where they will order your meds from Canada.

We get ours directly from a pharmacy in Canada --- I doubt very much they will be able to stop that. We'll see.

I hear ya about the cost of medicine. I am between a rock and a hard place. I am on medicare (which does not cover prescriptions) but cannot qualify for medicaid because I supposedly make too much (ha ha) because I get work disability also. I am only taking elavil now which, thank God, is cheap. I stopped taking prozac because of the expense, even the generic is $70 a month. Before IC when I had excellent insurance at work and prescriptions were covered with a $5 co pay I must admit I never gave a thought to prescription prices. Now I do!!

I am lucky b/c of my husband's insurance. Only problem is they are now only giving out a total of 21 pills per fill. So I have to fill the Elmiron every week at $10 a pop which adds up quickly. The Elavil is $3.62/21 tab's (generic brand tho'). Just a yr or so ago we were only paying $5 for name brands & $2 for generic for 30 pills. It's getting ridiculous!!!

I feel so bad for the ones who have to hand over HUNDREDS of dollars for meds. I was filling a pers not too long ago & an older fella (senior citizen) was paying for his, not sure how many persc he got, but he paid almost $1000.00 for them. I about crapped my pants. It is so disgusting having to pay so much & here I am griping on paying $10/wkly. But is only going to get worse it seems.
