:headbang:
Hello all...Newbie here. I was dx'd with IC about a month ago. Currently on Elmiron, Pyridium, Vistaril and Vicodin. This bites. I had a hysterectomy in April due to heavy periods/clotting/pain/enlarged uterus/endometriosis/stress incontinence. I also had a cystocele at that time that was supposed to be fixed during the hysto, but the surgery didn't go well, I hemmorrhaged had a transfusion and the doc skipped the bladder tie up. Since then, it's been nothing but pain and one UTI after another.
The new doc I started going to is the one who did the tests for IC. He is also going to do surgery on me in a mnth or so, to tie up the bladder and remove massive scar tissue.
I am in so much pain!!! Not that I'm new to the whole pain ordeal. I also have Fibromyalgia, IBS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Mitral Valve Prolapse, GERD, TMJD, Degenerative Disk Disease with several ruptured disks and Osteoarthritis. I'm sure I've left some other exotic problem out...who knows. Needless to say, all these health problems wreak havoc on my life. I am happily married with 2 children...luckily they are almost 18 and 12, so don't require alot of "constant babysitting". I work, but only part time and even that is difficult some days.
I am SO tired of pain and sickness. What did I do in a past life to deserve all this pain and suffering??? God only knows. I musta been one wicked chick!! LOL. Hafta laugh to keep my sanity. Anyway...I'm happy to have found this site and hope reading others stories will comfort me in some way...how true that misery loves company...weird.
I also hope to be inspired by the "happy stories" of relief from this bladder demon.
Thanks for letting me intro myself, sorry so long!

Hi Tammy and :welcome: to the gang! You have come to the right place for oodles of support and information!!

Sounds like you have good treatment plan started as well!! I know a lot of us also take Elavil to help with the pain aspect of IC, etc. And diet is HUGE for most of us! The "diet" is one of my biggest tools in helping me & my bladder stay sane, lol. Here's a couple useful links: one is to the Patient Handbook (if you haven't found it already) and the other is to the IC Diet foods list.

Patient Handbook:

IC Diet Foods List:

Hope these help a little bit, and once again, happy to meet you and look forward to seeing you around!!

Hugs!

Hi Tammy and welcome!

The 'what did I do to deserve this?' is a pretty common question around here! -I'm sitting here musing on what I might have done in a past life. -If IC is payment, I sure hope I had a lot of fun! Personally, I feel it just falls into the "It happens" category.

It does sound like you have a lot on your plate with other health issues and I'm sure that can only make things tougher! I do want to tell you that most of us do find treatment(s) that have us feeling much better than back when we were first diagnosed with IC.

Again, welcome!

Vicki

:welcome: to the IC Network. I agree that it sounds like you are on a good treatment plan. Hopefully the upcoming surgery will give you lots of relief.

Warm welcoming hugs,
