I know this is probably stupid but I forget that so many have to buy their meds at high costs. I wish we could start a funraiser that could be put into a trust by the ICN people..jill..etc that could help defray costa..This is not an advertisement..ive been on the board for a long time. I have a business H&G that does fund raisers with jar candles..anyway I would be happy to donate my profit to the cause..any other ideas or is this just stupid....one who doesnt have alot of confidence right now..Hugs peg?
I have kaiser insurance so I pay 5.00 per RX for anything......... smile.gif

Hi,

I think your idea is a great one. I was thinking about this recently. I am blessed with a good prescription plan under my health insurance.

I can not imagine how difficult it would be were this not the case.

I agree we need to help each other. I'd also donate to this cause. LDS

This has definitely been one of my dreams. I worry greatly about IC patients who don't have access to any medical care... and I'd also like to help IC patients who are going back to school with tuition reimbursements. It's really a question of having a team of patients who are willing to take responsibility for its implementation. I can't do it alone...

Khouse, if you just click on the graemlin when you want it, it will show up. you can't go back into a sentence and then add it because for some reason it doesn't work. And, your graemlin won't show up until you have pushed the 'add reply' on the bottom.

See if that works for ya'............

Kim: The graemlins you want are to the left of the message box --- you will need to scroll down a little. If you click on one there, it will appear in the message.

Peg what a great idea. My ditropanxl with insurance costs me about $90.00 each month. I am going to ask my uro if there is a program where I could get samples from each month. Just trying to get better and accept the fact that I have this ic and overactive bladder. I will be willing to help out too with the emails and stuff. Thanks. Jill you are doing a good job. Deb

I have no medical insurance. Therefore I get no treatment meds or relief.I was diagnosed with ic/hunners 1yr ago.hubbie lost his job and med insurance 4 months ago.The insurance plan new job offers is way to expensive for us.I continue to work and bear and grin the pain.med (insurance not offered my job)I think its a sin that working people get no government or state aid because we choose to work.I was told we make to much money.sad but true if I sit home I will qualify for medical help.Whats wrong with the system! <img src="graemlins/scream.gif" border="0" alt="[scream]" />

Hello,

This subject is very interesting to me. I am very fortuate as the organization my husband works for has wonderful insurance benefits but, I am very aware that there are those of us who do not have the greatest insurance and, in some cases, none at all.

There are organizations who offer a type of insurance benefit through "shared medical cost" programs. I have seen the ads in Christian magazines. I believe that they operate by having members send money into a "general fund" type of account. Each member sends an amount decided upon by the company. When medical services are rendured to an otherwise uninsured member, that member sends some type of proof of the expenditure (copies of bills or canceled checks) and the company mails that member a check to cover or reimburse most or all of the costs of medical procdeures and/or drug costs.

I know nothing about the legalities or logistics required with this type of program nor if this is even something ICN would want to be involved in. It probably would have to be some kind of "trust organizatiion" and be listed with the government to do business. Maybe the legal department of ICN would know how, or even if, something like this is viable.

No matter what type of fund, if any, is decided upon, I would definitely be favorable to do what I can to help, either monetarily or physically.

This is such a good idea...

with all the barriers to accessing care in america,(NOT specifically barriers for IC patients- thats a whole other story) prescription costs are only ONE of them, and on the bottem of the list.....it would be so nice if we could do something to just make that one paticular barrier to care a little less of a barrier.

I read somewhere that quality of life for IC patients is "lower than that of patients undergoing chronic dialysis for renal failure. Other studies put IC quality of life below that of hypertension, but above that of Rheumatoid Arthritis. " -Philip Hanno MD, Reviews in Urology Sept 2002-- thats with all the med treatments we have. Everyone should have acess to at least that, as minimum as it may be.

Im game to help as much as I can!!

Why don't some of you state you would be willing to be written up by the drug companies. That should get some sort of response as to free medicines.

Write something up of the reason there is a need for this, and who can benefit from this. Give us a place to send the money. I believe this can be done and will work.
Good Job
