is 10mg of elavil enough?

I just started taking 10 mg of elavil. Is this enough to stop the frequency?
Is there weight gain with this dosage? I don't want to have to take a larger dosage.

I also take elmiron and atarax.

you will probably increase it incrementally. I used elavil but for migraines and started with 10 mg and then got up to 50mg - it is doen that way to avoid the tiredness that comes with it.

I was on 50 mg to begin with and it worked but I was tired all day. I kept taking it though because it totally took away the IC pain. That was 5 years ago; I am now taking 5 mg and it is still working and I have no side effects.

Before Elavil I was voiding almost 60x a day. I couldn't sleep, eat, drive, work, function. The first night I took 10mg of Elavil I got a whole 4 hours sleep, I was so happy. After a week on the 10mg, I could sleep 7-8 hours with only 1-2 wakeups most nights. It reduced my frequency down to 10-15x a day. After about 7 months, I increased it to 20mg & it reduced my pain further.

I still take 20mg & other IC meds & I am living pretty normally now. (except for still following the diet.)

I'm currently at 50mg and going to be increasing to 75 this week (I'm in the study for this). It has helped tremendously with the pain but I haven't seen much improvement in my frequency. This is the only drug I am on right now, though.
