Hello, I thought the President was going to help the Medicare and others who could not afford to get their medicines and other medical supplies?
Where is the help that he promised. We are in America and need help here. I had a number for the white house and the Presidents mail box, but it has been deleted from my computer. I would like to have it again if anyone out there has any information on how we can get the word out that we still are waiting for the help he promised. I will be greatful for the email address or phone number. Thanks for helping. Good Luck and we must all stick together so we get the help we need and deserve. Sue
Sue~if you get it, I"d sure like the info too!

I have been meaning to post this but, the old memory ain't what it used to be  ...sorry.
Our local Fox station did a report, a few days ago, on the following:
E mail address for free or low cost drugs: ~~www.helpingpatients.org~~ Scroll down to the bottom of the home page to: RxAssist.org link.
I do not know anything about this personally but, thought it most interesting and might be worth checking out. If I undersood the report correctly, the drugs come from the pharmaceutical companies.
Hope everyone is having a great day...Sharon

What we need Sue is a "cap" on the prices the pharmacutical companies expect us to fork over. They know we need it therefore they are outrageous. That would help more than anything.

Since I doubt very much that those of us with Medicare will have prescription coverage in the ner future and neither my husband or I can get coverage privately, I went on a search to attempt to find a less costly way to get our prescriptions.
I found it in Canada! We have been ordering our most expensive meds on the internet from http://www.canadameds.com --- we are saving in excess of $4 per day by this simple step. We recently ordered a new prescription from them --- we priced it here at $349.29 for the 21 tablets my husband needs --- the price from canadameds is $142.96 --- the only drawback is that it takes almost a month to get a prescription filled.

Why and how can they do this? Our health insurance is just under a grand a month. Our script, with co-pays of $10 or $20 amount to $400 a month and that's with no extras thrown in. That's just the monthly meds we both HAVE to take.
Why are we forced to go across the border to get our meds? They are given freely by our state to those in other countries that need them. While those of us here have to decide what to do? I find myself cutting some of my pills in 1/2 so that they will last longer. I feel guilty enough because my $649 SS check doesn't cover squat :(
It's something that I haven't understood since I was a teenager and that was a LONG time ago eek

I know that Iraq was in a very bad way, but so are some of the Americans. I had the price list from Canada and it is a little cheaper, but like Teri said we are forced to get our drugs from another country just is not right. I am taking all my meads that I need and all our income information to this hospital assistance person to see if she can help me get at least some of the most expensive medications cheaper. In what my husbands needs per month and what I need it costs $848.67 for one month supply and that does not include filling of the pump, which is to be covered by Medicare. I sent a letter to the address of the white house, but have not heard anything yet. I also checked on that Peoples Prescription Plan where it costs a family $5.99 a month to get a reduced price at many pharmacys. One of the pharmacys listed is the Wal Mart, when I called them, they said that the percentage is so small that it costs you more to belong to the People Prescription Drug Plan. If anyone hears of anything new about a drug program please post it so we can all check it out. Thanks for your help. Sue hi

Hello I just checked out the RX Assist.org link and for Celebrex 100 caps. of the 200mg they want $307 and Canada wants for the same thing same amount $124.64 at least that is what the lady quoted me over the phone. Now how come Canada can get them so cheap, but of course you must pay 25 to 35 dollars for a memebership fee per year and $10.00 shipping unless you purchase over a $50.00 order then you get away without paying the shipping. They have three different drug programs set up. Now I never had the Canada brand drugs, I assume they must meet the same guide lines as the other countrys drugs. But check it out for yourself, perhaps the drugs that you need will be cheapest from their and then again maybe not after you pay the membership fee and all.
You know I cannot take Elmiron and I wish that I lived closer to some of you, because here I am with medication that I cannot take and I will just have to throw them away. I know it is illegal to give another person your drugs and all, but when will this high price drug war stop.
I would be better off dead, my husband can collect the insurance money and either marry someone who is not half dead or someone wealthy and half dead. I want to go to heaven, or I would consider a way out. Take care and I hope there are happier days and thoughts to look forward to soon....Sue baby

We don't pay a membership fee to get our meds out of Canada. We do have to pay postage, but it's less than $15 for an order, regardless of the number of prescriptions ordered.

Sue, that's too funny cuz I tell my husbnad the samd thing all the time!

Some days he agrees, somedays he gets mad at me for thinking that way! We are suppose to be the richest country in the world. If that's so, when are we going to start taking care of ourselves first and others 2nd. I'm ALL for helping others but not when it comes to the expense of our own

Boy I sure do feel lucky that I am well enough to work and have a decent medical plan. The days when I really really feel bad this makes me motivated enough to get up and go to work. I really feel the US needs to think about it's own people needs, it's a good thing that we are helping other people who are suffering but we need to remember the struggle and suffering we are all going thru at home too

I couldn't agree more with you all. :( Even those of us who have insurance through jobs get stiffed sometimes. I've had a number of insurance claims turned down because they don't think that the test or treatment is "medically necessary" for IC. WHAT?!?!?!? How dare they deny ANYTHING to a patient who suffers from chronic, unrelenting symptoms that just MIGHT help? I'm in the middle of appealing a claim right now for food allergy testing that was done by my urologist last November that my insurance company says isn't relevant to my diagnosis. $343 bill. Get a freakin' clue!
An irritated Melanie J.
My daughter will officially become an RN on May 9th :D {very proud mom here** and she chose her hospital because of it's health plan, not because of pay or location. She has seen how hard it's been on us since I've gotten so sick and we only have one income now.
I know that while I was working I'd get so peeved because when/if we got raises it would be a quarter or some insulting amount. Welp, at the time, I didn't have a clue what good insurance meant. Plus, it didn't matter.
I am so sick of the 25% increase every year and the endless fights with blue cross rejecting claims that have always been covered in the past.
We are the keeper of the world when we should be the keeper of us:(

Regarding pain and medications. I think with a lot of us, mostly we have pain, and frequency? So why not stop all the other stuff and just take pain medication? Wouldn't that alone save money? I also agree we give other countries too much and not enough goes to US!! We gave Jordan 60Billion for "just in case their oil income economy suffers during our "invasion of Iraq"...IMAGINE!! and we need that too,. that would buy a lot of meds for us here. There is power in numbers, If we ALL wrote and kept it up, wouldn't they listen, or have to? Lets do it. If all of us did it, they'd have to listen, at the very least they'd have us on the news and people would hear about IC? What do you think. There is a program in CT, I heard, for people who can not afford their drugs and most Pharmacutical (sp) companies have a "compassionate use program". Try that, write to them and ask, or call. It won't hurt.
hope this helps sanctuary
