I had a cysto on Monday and was given CIPRO 1000 mg to prevent an infection. I started feeling something on Wed, Thursday was increased trips to bathroom with burning and by Thursday nite the pain and burn started with blood when I wiped and puss. Fri went to uro's office and said I needed to provide a urine sample as I was sure I had an infection. (I use the AZZO strips at home, so I don't waste my time with a negative culture).
The cysto exam was concluded with my bladder "looking fine." I had a hydro done 10 years ago, no tell-tale signs of classic pinholes. But many years of pain, urgency, frequency, negative cultures. My current uro says I have IC.
Many show posts of the hydro extension being the "sure-fire" diagnosis, however, in the IC handbook, there is literature on the fact that just because you don't have show signs during hydro, you still may have IC.
I wondered if the cysto brought on a flare along with an infection as the pain is more than my usual pain when I go through periods of what is believed to be IC (when I have pain like an infection, but the culture is negative.)
