Hi everyone,
I am so dumb when it comes to the internet, after fumbling around on here for about 30 mins, i was able to get to where i can post a question...
I just recently being diagnosed have tons of questions & fears.
I seem to have a little leakage which i have been told that can be normal w/a bad flair, but their is an odor, it's not toooooo awful but it's there. I told my doc about it, she just looks at me like well...i see no infection, and i know i don't have a YI, so w/out getting freaked out can someone give me any suggestions on why this is occuring.
Thanks,
Tracey :)

Hi..are you sure it just isn't urine? I have the same thing, and if it sits in your underwear for awhile, I think it does smell. So gross!!!

I use those panyliners, so i am always changing them. hmmmmmm you think it could be the smell of the urine? UGH you are right tooooo gross. wonder if you might know some people on here who we can find out about it, since not many reply to my posts. LOL
Thanks alot,
Tracey
PS. have you noticed it just since the IC. I have, never had an odor b4

I notice that during flares, my urine smells funny -- not like infection, just different than it normally does. I suspect it's just a result of inflammation and all of the chemicals your body secretes to try and calm things down. As long as you do not have a UTI or vaginal infection, I think it's probably just "IC pee" smell -- there are several of us on here that have had a discussion about this. Not everyone gets it, but some do.

Tracy, when I was first getting diagnosed with IC and trying everything out there I found out I had a UTI on top of the IC. Everytime I went to the uro I was tested for a UTI and never had one so it never crossed my mind, I thought the IC was just worse. Then I was in a test at the University of Maryland and had to send a sample and the doc there told me I had a UTI. It had gone on for over 2 months and the odor was horrible. Once it got cleared up the elavil started working and I was fine. Make sure you dont have a UTI on top of the IC.

:) hi , i feel i have a similar thing what jen was talking about, with a infection the urine has a strong odour, but i think with just ic the urine has a distinct odour, it is not nearly as offending as the smell of urine when you have a infection, martha

Thnx for all the input, i think i'll go to the store and get 1 of those test kits. It will save me on going to the doc's right away and i am probably just freaking out over nothing. Better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks every1,
:)

Hey Tracey! The input is so helpful isn't it? I notice too, that when I haven't drank enough liquids, mine has a stronger odor. And sometimes as much as I change those darn pantyliners, they can still hold odor...can't win can we? *sigh*
And when flaring there was definitely a "different" smell, not like a uti though. Geez, as if peeing our brains out isn't enough, we get to "smell" too!! LOL The test strips are a great idea, cheaper than a doc visit for nothing, ugh. This way at least if it's positive, you know your appt is worth it. If I have a false reading the first time, I do a second one the next day and see what it says, and go from there! ;)
Hugs!!!
P.S. Now that you are a pro at posting, I am sure you'll get lots more replies!! Take care sweetie!!! :)

I too notice a "smell" usually when my flare-up is going on. I wear painty liners too, and I still seem to have a weird odor. Thats why I change them so much!! :loco: :) So see, your not alone in even that!! :hmm: Anyway, take care and hope to talk to you soon! God Bless, Cassandra

OK this is why I love this board. I too have an "IC odor" and I thought I was the only one who changed panty liners like a new born baby's diaper. Now I know I'm not.
