Too good to last

I've had a good 5 1/2 weeks :woohoo: ... until tonight. I took my grandma out for dinner and had one root beer. :) Before I knew it, the waitress brought me another and I drank that .. then she brought me a third. I looked at and almost started to drink it - then decided I wasn't that thirsty. :shake:

To top it off, I had a nice garden salad with little chunks of tomato and a BLT ... and I just realized I forgot to take my Prelief before I ate dinner. :bonk:

3 hours later - I'm spasming and can't urinate! :headbang:

I have to work both jobs the next two nights. :pray: I pray this is only a temporary set-back and doesn't get worse. But as I sit here, I hurt more and more. :(


Oh yea .. still waiting for insurance to appeal their denial of the internal physical therapy. :rolleyes:

:( I'm so sorry you are flaring after 5.5 weeks of feeling well... :grouphug: I hope it's just temporary. I know it seems bad now but there have been times where I've had horrid pain at night and woken up to a much calmer bladder in the morning. Let's hope that happens for you....

I'm so very sorry you are flaring and can't pee that is the worse!
to calm down the flare try drinking an eight oz glass ofwater with one tsp of baking soda (if you don't have high blood pressure) remember to drink it fast its nasty.
then sometimes tums will help the flare to lift.
as far as the peeing goes try sitting in a one tub of water relax in the bathtub. this works for me when i get that way it takes a little time but the muscle normally open up so i can go. pee in the water then take a shower.
I do hope something helps and fast for you.
Do you have any left over pain medicine? that may help also with the bladder so you can rest tonight since you must work tomorrow

I'm not at that point where I have to take major pain meds .. I just want to pee without using catheter.

I have Percocet - but tends to have side effects even 12 hrs later. I have safety board meeting and production meeting - plus have to work 2nd job tomorrow night --- I can't be drugged all day.

I hope you are right and I will wake up in the morning feeling better.

Maybe some tylonal can help you with the mild pain. I pray you don't have to take anything at all.
Hopefully if you try the baking soda and water that will help.

one time after a surgery they put toral in my iv while i was still a sleep they didn't get that it has asprin in toral or a sub. that is in asprin in toral that my bladder can't take without making me where i can't pee.
before i left the hosp i told them i couldn't pee. they said oh you will be able to soon and sent me on my way. after a few hours being home and going crazy because i couldn't pee. I called the uro on call he said sit in some warm water and try to relax if this didn't work where i could pee or if i still couldn't get the cath in i would have to go to the e.r for a foley. OH NO!!!! that wasn't going to happen i sit in the tub relaxing as much as i could and finally it started coming out. Thank you Lord!!!!!!!
all didn't come out and i did have to cath, but at least it did start.
I hope your able to pee soon. I also pray that your able to sleep tonight without pain.

I just went 100 cc of burning stream of millions of tiny shredded pieces of glass (aka urine). I cathed to see if anything was left and had trouble getting that darn tube in - only to find nothing left.

If I still have trouble in the morning, I will call my primary and ask for ua and culture just to rule out uti. My back right area is hurting again too.

I've tried that bathroom trick many times - it doesn't help me. I don't have baking soda at home either.

Well I am going to bed. I have to work both jobs tomorrow and Friday. :(

This is definitely a nasty flare .. or uti. My bladder and abdomen from my belly button down burn! This is not "normal" even for my flares. My urine has the lovely infection fragrance. But then again I have had that "fragrance" before and been told no infection. Plus I feel like I have peed my pants all night ... but I haven't.

Could be another ovarian cyst too since I have that same "warm, wet" feeling I have had in the past when my cysts rupture.

I'm going to call my primary Friday morning and ask for urine culture .. before the weekend comes and it may get worse.

I have to work Friday night and the lady who is training me said she may not work all night and let me close by myself .. but only if I feel comfortable closing. I am still fogging on some of the steps so maybe if she won't leave me alone -- and if I don't feel good she will let me go home early. I know that won't help me learn the closing technique and I would feel guilty ... so I will just cross my fingers and try to tough it out.

Well time for bed again.

Hope you get in to get a culture and maybe some anti's til the results come back since it's over the weekend! :)

I would explain to her you are sick, with a possible UTI, you will do your best and it would be helpful, until you are feeling better and in a better frame of mind to learn to close yourself, if she'd stick around this time. As, not feeling well, can affect your concentration etc. Hope it goes well for you! Let us know how you do please!

I just got home from urgent care .. and pray I don't end up at ER.

I donated a urine sample on Friday afternoon and haven't gotten results back yet. I have felt like crap the last few days. This morning in church I broke out in tears cuz I hurt so bad ... so I went to urgent care. The doc said Fri's results show "few" white cells - no culture results yet as it is still "in process". But today's cath sterile sample shows 13 white cells --- so chances are I have a true UTI :woohoo: and he has ordered 7 days of Levaquin.

Yes I am wierd to be so happy about having a true UTI! I know that sounds strange but sometimes it is nice to know WHY I hurt besides "must be on IC flare"

In the mean time -- I back to not peeing! I have cath and both times this morning has brought me to tears. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just ask for the foley to let my urethra's swelling go down and stop the irritation of cathing every couple of hours.

As I type this I hurt - I just want to curl up in a ball - but that doesn't help either. So time for Percocet .. and cancelling today's plans. :cussing:

Aw Tara, I hope you feel better soon! I know all we ICers hope for UTI's when we feel like crap, that at least means that a pill can make it go away!!! Keeping you in my thoughts and sending healing thoughts your way too!!!!

I ended up going back to urgent care yesterday afternoon cuz I had too much trouble getting the cath in and didn't want to end up at ER later.

My specialist uro/gyn wont be in my area till end of Oct - so I have to see my first uro to get the foley removed and see if he can find out what is causing the swelling and pain. I have appt at 3:20pm today - about 7 hrs from now.

I have been up sick all night vomiting and now have low grade fever 99.6. Last time I was like this, I ended up being admitted to hospital for fluids.

I got copies of the urine results and it states it had "WBC Clumps" - never seen that before. I'll ask the doc about it today and see what he says. I am not looking forward to seeing this man - and if he recommends dilation I will deny it! However, I will ask if he can recommend the internal physical therapy.
