I tried Zoloft for IC, not depression or a coping-therapy, and it didn't do anything to help my IC. I think some on this board do take Zoloft as a means of coping or for depression, so hopefully you'll get some good responses. I hope the is the magic cure for you! :kissing:

I took Paxil which is similar to Zoloft. It did help me not only with coping but with pain. I was told it slows down your system and slows down the pain receptors and does help reduce some of the pain. BUT...it also slows down your metabolism and lots of times makes you gain weight. That is why I stopped taking it. I can handle a little more pain better than I can handle a little more weight. That's vanity, I guess.

I started taking it a few months ago to help me deal with life. I was taking Celexa which worked great but I gained too much weight. I haven't gained one pound from the zoloft (which it good) and it didn't start to help until just lately. Took a few months beofre I could tell. I'm not so paniced and a little more calmer. I still at times try to do everything at once but not quit so bad. As far as IC problems it has not helped me with.

How are things going with the Zoloft? I am considering talking to my PCP about perhaps trying some anti-depressents. I am also going to ask about Pain Meds b/c my uro will not prescribe any for me....

start slowly and work your way up. tried zoloft gave me horrible headaches. take a low dose of lexapro which helps just 10mg. but i guess this is a pretty strong antidepressant.

:) hi, i have been on zoloft for 10 years now for depression, it has helped me a lot, it will have some side effects as most medicines do, but will wear of after a couple of weeks, it can take up to 6 or 7 weeks before you will see any improvements, my daughter is on zoloft too, and has helped her a great deal. martha
