As I posted a message earlier I was going to write that it had been about 2 weeks since I started the diet. Well, I looked up the date to be sure. Actually, ít's been since August 2nd - almost a month and a half. Of course, I'm still figuring things out, so I haven't been the perfect dieter. However, I'm doing a whole lot better than I thought I would be.
Interestingly, I find my tastes changing. Two months ago I wouldn't have eaten a carrot stick to save my life. Now I find them a nice, fresh treat along with other fresh veggies.

I'm glad it's beginning to work for you. Hang in there --- it's worth it!

You sound like me! I have discovered that almost a year after dropping Coke from my daily routine, that now, I can't stand the taste of it! I actually prefer water. Well, I have always been a big water drinker anyway, but I think it's funny! And like you, my tastes have come to prefer my new way of eating, I hardly miss anything at all. ;)

So glad to hear you are doing well. It was a struggle for me. So many foods on the "no" list I lived on, like fruit and I still miss it so much. It is likely my weakest point and to this date get into it way more than I should.
Keep up the good work.

Well, improvement has been gradual from the diet. I first really noticed improvement the other day (about 6 weeks) when I got through 3 classes and the ride home without using the restroom - unheard of for me. I didn't know how good I was, though, until I got off the diet during prep for this colonoscopy I had today. I was peeing every 5-10 minutes this morning while I was waiting to go in. And it was the usual sit down, pee, get up, sit back down, pee some more, and so on and so on until I was satisfied enough to leave the restroom - only to come back a few minutes later. Well, I figured the diet was off after yesterday and this morning, so I splurged tonight. Tomorrow I hope to get back on the diet. I just hope it doesn't take as long to get back where I was.

I have a feeling that your bladder will bounce back faster than it took to get it under control. By having been on the diet, you have at least given it a chance to "heal", so it's in a better place this time around, than when you started the diet in the beginning!
Do you keep the voiding/pain journal?? I did for about the first 6 months after diagnosis, what a help it was! I recorded everything, when I peed, pain level on the 1-10 scale fromt the site here, when I took my meds and which one, what I ate and when, any other symptoms I may be having, my emotional state, when I had sex, etc. It was a huge help and a great motivator! It was really cool to watch my pee tallies for the day steadily go from 30-40+ times a day, to 8-10!!! You can kind of see then in black in white what's working, and what's not, lol!!

I haven't been keeping a journal since at first it was so bad all the time when I started and I couldn't tell any difference for a while. Of course, maybe I could have seen a difference had I actually kept a journal. Oh well. Except for the past three days (with the colonoscopy and all), I've been doing really good. And when I did drink something not IC-friendy I noticed it quickly - in less than an hour. When I start trying new foods not on the really ic-friendly list I do plan on keeping notes if not an entire journal. To be honest, I kind of stink at keeping journals anyways. Maybe it'll be different, though. Anyways, glad it's working for you. I can see how that would be great motivation.
