I don't know about you other pregnant ladies, but I am only a few weeks away and still can't pick a name. I 'll tell you some of our choices, and you can tell me what you think. Don't hesitate to add your favorites, then we can all get some ideas!

Brenly- we just like it. But we are afraid it may be misunderstood when said
Lydia- I love this bible name-my oldest has a bible name too
Nichole- My husband and oldest like it. Our children all end in an "L" sound.
Rosa-(call her Rosie) She was probably concieved on our cruise to Mexico. Not sure this Latin name will go well with our Scottich last name, although Rosie goes just fine.

What do you think?

I think Brenly is beautiful and unique. I like Lydia too.

Other girls names I like:

Ana
Emma
Madeline
Colleen
Faith
and Josephine (what I plan to name my daughter someday) :)

Only a few weeks away....you must be so excited!

My 4 year old's middle name is Nicole. You're probably going to laugh at me as to how we came up with Lindsey as a first name--Wimbledon and the US Open--yup, after watching Lindsay Davenport(same name but with an E instead of an A) Happy name hunting and as soon as I find our marked up baby name dictionary, I'll share some more. How are you feeling?

Hugs,
Barb :kissing:  :grouphug:

When we were picking a name for our second child we couldn't agree on anything. My husband got the book of names and started flicking through the pages saying "tell me when to stop". It landed on Hilary. You're joking I said do it again. It landed on Hilary again. "Start from the back of the book" I said and guess what?
Hilary Pamela will turn seventeen on 17th Oct. Some things are just meant to be.
Happy name hunting.

I also like Brenley. but I am one that picks unusual names.

I think of the choices I like Lydia the best. I'm expecting a boy right now but if he were a girl he was going to be Rhianna. I absolutely love that name. I've had that picked out for awhile! Other names I like a lot I saw on here are Faith and Odessa. Very pretty! I also have a thing for the names Haley and Thalia. Good luck with the name picking! I think it's such a fun part! Ann

I love classic names. Not the cutesy names mothers come up with these days. I try to imagine the girl as a grown woman, maybe the head of a company or a grandmother, and say the name out loud. Would it be suitable in that situation and not just as a baby or little girl. "Laura" is the most timeless classy name I know of. It's a lovely name from age 9 months to 90 years.

I also like the old names best. I like Rosalee best and it goes with your Scottish name.

I like the name Adelle or Adel and it ends in the "L" sound
Other names I like are:
Sage (means "wise" and is a unisex name)
Eloise (means "intelligent")
Bastienne
Emma
Alyssa

I like the name Sage Eloise because the first name means wise and the second name means intelligent and one is worthless without the other.

I like Brenly. I have a friend who has a daughter named Brailey - pronounced bray-lee and another with a daughter named Riley. I think they're all great names. I also like Gracie and Elena. I'm sure what ever name you chose, it will be a great one!

Barb - Did you see Lindsay last night? :(
How about Andre??? I really don't care how "old" they keep talking about him being! He's still hot to me! ;)
I really miss playing tennis...but I still like watching hotties like Andrea bounce around the court! :biglaugh:

Sherry, I looked back on your profile to try to find out what your last name was and I noticed we have the same birthday. Sept. 28...and it's coming up fast! Is it a possibility that your baby will be born that day?

I LOVE not-so-common names, because in school, there were always 3,000 Jessica's! I love the names...

Autumn
Deliah
Savannah Rose (that's what a friend of mine who is also pregnant is going to name her baby if it is a girl)
Sarah (pretty normal, but I love it!)
Hope
Faith
Natalie
And my all time favorite, which is what we will be naming ours if it is a girl--Rachel Marie!

:) GL so many names to choose from, it's so hard!

If I had another girl I would have used Emily or Sarah. Love both those names. I also like all the names you are considering.

I named my daughter Taylor Marie. Marie is a family name and I thought Taylor at the time would be rare. Not so, lots of Taylor's these days. I also thought about Emily and Elizabeth (which is another family name that was already taken). Marie was my grandmothers sister. I took that name instead of my grandma because most of them had boys name for middle names like my grandmother was Mildred Cecil, so I choose Marie as way to honor her and the family.

Megan Colleen-(your family must be Irish, which means our families are neighbors :) )

We nealrly named our second daughter Ana, because Anastacia is a family name in my husbands family. After I checked out that particular ancestor, I decided she wansn't the best role model.

I have ten brothers and sisters, and my husband has five. That makes about forty neices and Nephews whos names we cannot use. So many of them are on evryone's lists!

Barb- there is nothing wrong with picking your child's name based on anything you love. Including Tennis :)

Christine- I love Ava but it is way too popular right here right now. I love Cosette (I've been a big Les Mis fan since Jr. High) but my husband hates the nickname Cosy. He is being rather obstinate. Sadie is the name of a niece. Between my husband and my family, you can see why this is difficult!

Rosalie- sounds like your daughter was trying to tell you what she wanted to be named! I wish ours would give us some help...

Annie- you'll get sick of hearing this, but I'm surprised you haven't had that baby yet! is 1976 when you were born? Me too! We are bicentennial babies. I love Rhianna. Ryan is a family name in my husband's family, and I thought of naming her Ryann. My boyfriend right before my husband was named Ryan and I don't think he can get past it...

Marilyn- it's funny you should say that, because I always say "Could she be a supreme court justice with that name?" One of my sisters names all of her girls really cutsie names and I just roll my eyes. Laura is lovely. We do share the same birthday! There is a good possibility I could have this baby on our birthday. I am due Oct. 15, but because of my toxemia they are going to start checking her lungs with an amniosentesis on 9-22- and I can have her any time after that. The sooner she is safely out the better. If she is born on my birthday we will name her Elaina (my middle name is Elaine) after me.

Donna- Rosalee would go well with our last name, and I could still call her Rosie :) My husband can't object to that, and she wouldn't need a middle name!

Sacausa- We have thought about Adalyn, a family name, but Adelle may fit in better with my other kids

Brat- Savannah ans Sophia are HUGELY popular where I live. I love the name Grace.

Jess- I like Autumn and that is when she will be born. My oldest daughter is named Rachael. When do you find out what you are having?

Ginny- We almost named our second girl Emily and we still love that name. We didn't because we knew like three other people naming their babies Emily. We have been sriously considering naming her after my grandmother Virginia nad calling her Ginny. Every time I see you post I am tempted to ask you how you like your name. So, how do you like your name? :)

Patricia- Taylor, Emily and Elizabeth are all hugely popular right now. Marie is my mother in law's middle name, and is a family name on her side. Marie will most likely be this baby's middle name.

I thought about naming her Pemberly but I am afraid the allusion to Pride and Prejudice is too obvious. Elizabeth would be better if I am going that route, but I wouldn't want her to be called Liz (Lizard) I want to avoid bad nick names at all costs! :) Kids are cruel enough as it is. (Sherry Berry, Sherry Cherry, blah)

Thanks for your help! Keep them coming!

This is so much fun. Makes me wish I were trying to name a baby. But alas...I am way past that point in my life. *sigh*

Anyway...when I was trying to come up with a girl's name when I was pregnant, I thought about Laura Diane. Then I thought...why not just change it a bit and use Lara Dianne. I also liked Cathrine Diane and call her Cat. As it turned out (this was back in the days when we didn't know what sex the baby would be before birth), I had a boy and his first name, Stephen, had been picked out for many years by his father after his dad's best buddy in school. I insisted that we change the spelling to Steven to be different and that his middle name be Andrew, since that is the name I wanted to use as his first name. Now, Steven is used all the time instead of Stephen. So much for being unique. *shrug* :)

Sherry,

I got my ultrasound date for finding the gender out set up today at my pelvic exam...I go in November 3rd and find out boy or girl! Either way, I will be very happy...but between you and me? I'd love a girl!

I had an ultrasound today--omg it is miraculous to see that baby moving around, and to see what he or she looks like already. I am in love!!
(We're throwing Marie in as a middle name for the baby if it's a girl, because it's my Mom's name...but that is such a popular middle name, isn't it??)

Hugs,
Jess

Jess- Yeah you find out in less than a month! I am so excited for you!

Don't be too disappointed if you find out it is a boy, they are way lower maintenance emotionally. And they love their mamas the best My little boy (41/2) tells me how much he loves me all day long. Boys can be rambunctious, but they aren't sneaky and manipulative like girls are. Maybe thats why girls like their Dads better, because their moms know all of their tricks!

Marie is a VERY common middle name, but I love my MIL very much and it is worth it to me. And Marie comes from Mary and I love the thought of her trying to emulate all of the marys in the bible. They were all great women.

Sharon- (my real name is Sharon, but I have always been called Sherry. I don't know why my parents did that.) Laura is my husband's sister's name, and let's just say she is not the best role model... I like Lara much better. My best friend growing up was named Lara, and we are still close.

Perhaps Steven (MUCH better with a v) will give you grandbabies someday and you can help name them :)

Sherry and Jess seems like Marie is common. And it seems to be a family name. I also agree with Taylor's name and the others are huge right now. For my son I spelled his middle name different to set him apart from the others his is Cody Ryon (proun. ryan) my hubby says Ron but that is not what it is. Oh well, trying to pick out names is so much fun....

I love baby naming!
Names we thought for a girl:
Sydney Ann
Kenna Grace
Lauren Ann

Ella Lynn
Zella Lynn
Kinley Lynn

We had so many names picked out for a girl. Wouldn't you know the baby was a boy! We butted heads forever getting a name we would both like. We finally went with hubby's name Steve.
So our sons name is Stephen Zane and we call him Zane.

Also, Sherry, if you like the name Elizabeth some friends of ours named their second daughter Elizabeth Jo and call her Betsy. :)

Have fun naming your baby!!!

Jaime- good names! My neighbor is due one week before me and she is naming hers Sydney. Boys names can be harder, because the girls are taking all of the boy names away! (sydney, Ryann, Kendall, Chandler, Chayse, etc.)

Patricia- Where do you live in Louisiana? Did you have to relocate? Is your family all well? You have me worried all of a sudden! I don't know why I didn't notice before...pregnant brain I guess....

Sherry we are fine. We live in the North West part of the state. The only thing is we have over 20,000 evacuees in the larger city close to us and 600 in my small town. It is sad what has happened but we will rebuild and I feel New Orleans will be better than before...Thanks for asking and for the concern

Sherry,

I won't mind a little boy, either. We have a name picked out already for a boy. Hubby and I locked horns on names and we finally found middle ground. I am glad that is out of the way, but now comes crib decisions, strollers, etc. that we have to decide on. I want the Winnie The Pooh set and he is "pooh-pooh"ing that idea!

I absolutely adore the name Isabelle...but I know someone named that, and she told me not to name the baby that if it is a girl cuz she doesn't like that name LOL!

Hugs,
Jess

I am really enjoying reading this thread! I am way too old for more children of my own, but would love to be a grandma. Unfortunately, my daughter isn't ready to be a mommy yet so I must be patient.

Just have to add I love the name Laura --- so much so, I gave that name to my own daughter.

I also really like Emily Rebecca but didn't use it for my daughter because our last name begins with P and her initials would have been...E R P! Not a pleasant sound!

My daughter told me if she ever does decide to have a child and has a girl, she would like to name her Isabelle Andrea. The middle name would be for me since my name is really Andrea. I cried when my daughter told me she wanted to use my name. I use Annie for my screen name because I have long worked with children and little ones have a hard time pronouncing Andrea. Annie is much easier for them.

I also like the name Carrie. That was my grandmother's name.

Boys' names are harder for me since I never had a son. Had our daughter been a boy, however, we had picked the name Matthew. And Stephen (old fashioned way with a ph) is a good one.......that's my hubby.

This thread is so much fun! I love reading all the favorite names being considered for these precious little ones.

Oh, this is a fun topic!!! I too enjoyed reading through all the wonderful suggestions. A friend of mine named her daughter Breann. I liked your picks of Brenly and Lydia. Brenly is so unusual....when you say it, it just sticks with you! I also like Savannah. Wow, what fun you must be having going through all the choices! Good luck choosing one!

One of my favourite girl names that was vetoed by hubby, is Morag. It is scottish for Sarah. Fergus was another I had for a boy being the oldest known scottish name. Oh and another boys name was Mungo. We settled on Campbell for my son and Hilary seemed to pick her own name
Both my kids are thankful that their dad intervened. They like their names because they are different - they have never met anyone else their age named the same

Marlana
09-08-2005, 03:35 PM
This is fun. I have an uncommon name..It is Marlana..Mar-lay-nah..alot of people think it is Marlena..anyhow, my 1st daughter has a different name and that is Cassidy..it is becoming more popular now.My poor last daughter was not named for almost 5 days cuz we couild not agree. My hubby real name is Danny. so he wanted Danni Marie[ marie is my middle name**, and I liked it at first but I pushed for Bethany or Aspen Elizabeth. Anyhow, when she was born, I just could not name her Danni so we really did not name her. I pushed for Bethany but we agreed on Elizabeth Carol {carol after my mom**. I swore also I would not call her Liz or Lizzie and I would call her Beth but she ended up being called Lizzie Poo-Poo...and she loves her name..It is an old biblical name..and to me is very mature and beautiful. I also like Holly. It looks like you are getting some very beautiful names from everyone here.. :loco:

Sherry5
09-08-2005, 04:18 PM
Patricia- I am glad you are O.K and I am sure you are right.
Jess- I know a ton of little tiny Isabelle's. It is really far too popular here. How fun to pick out all new baby furniture! When we had our first, we had to borrow almost everything, and we bought a crib at a second hand store.
Maybe you can get a simple crib, and get winnie the pooh bedding.
Annie- Laura is a lovely name, and happens to be a family name. It is too bad my husband's little sister ruined it for us. I like Carrie too, unfortunately it rhymes with Sherry
Rosalie- your husband is just not as traditional as you. But I like what you ended up naming them instead. I agree. The key is to name them something uncommon for their age. I thought I was doing that for my eight year old Rachael, but there are two Rachaels in her class now. Go figure.
Marlana- I am surprised people mispronounce your name. There has been a Marlana on Days of our Lives for years, and a few years back there was even a son called "three Marlanas". It is a great name. Does anyone call your daughter Lizard? I like Lizzie much better than Beth, but I have always been a huge Pride and Prejudice fan, and her sisters all call her Lizzie.

If my child had been a girl the name would have been Aileen Kirsten.
Turns out it was a boy and the nurse named him Kenneth. We added his middle name James after my dad. If my Dr would have been on call we would have named Kenneth after him-Kenan Rand.

Good luck with the name game..How fun!
Continue to have a healthy pregnancy and an uneventful delivery!

When my husband and I received our referall for our adopted daughter from China I got a baby name book and started looking through it. I had always liked Makayla (actually, I got the name from the TV show "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman-except it was spelled Michaela) but my husband did at first. Then I spelled it Makayla istead of Michaela and he liked it. So we named our daughter Makayla. I know a little girl name Autumn and a girl named Summer.
It is amazing some of the names that are out there. When we went thorough the baby name book we liked a few names, but then once we got her referral picture we looked at her and tried using a couple of names and the one we really liked was Makayla. We did keep one of her Chinese names as her middle name. So her name is Makayla Zhu (Ju).

Just go with your heart. You may have a name picked out and then once your daughter is born you may look at her and say "She doesn't look like a Sue. She looks more like a Nancy. Etc.."

Good luck and congrats.

Sherry5

Diana- Why did your nurse name your baby? Aileen is a great Celtic name

Marilyn- neice named Caitlin, of course...I have so many.

Kim- I have always liked makayla, since High School. Then I married a guy whose last name started with a Mac and that's the end of that. :) No Makayla, Makinley, Mackinsensie, none of that will work for us. It's very sad.

We have always had to look at our babies to name them. We go in with a very short list, and then take a look at them and see what we feel. The process takes a couple of days, and I like to have a good idea before I go into the hospital. We named my youngest Mitchell, and that wasn't even on our short list. We were all set to name him Nathan, then he surprised us with reddish hair and for some reason we decided to name him Mitchell because of it. It's totally blonde now, but Mitchell still fits him. Besides, there are two Nathans in his Pre school class.

Congratulations on adopting your little girl! How old is she?

I have a daughter, Megan Nicole.

I like Amanda, but with my last name it wouldn't work. I like Alley, so I named my cat that, and Kate/Katie--we named our dog that. Emmy is also cute---my other female cat's name LOL.

I figured I was done having children so I'd name my cats the girl's names I really like.

I'm excited for you. This is such a happy time!

A lot of girl names on this thread! How about some more boys names? I don't have any kids yet, but, when I do, I have a feeling I'll have all boys, like Lois on Malcolm in the Middle. Hey, I heard some of you talking about Days of our Lives (Jess, would love to chat with you about that show). You can go to the website and name Belle's baby. You have to pick from their three choices for a boy or girl. What is the "three Marlenas"?

Ok. Here's a boy's name...Benjamin. Ben for short. I have this unusual fascination with Benjamin Franklin. I read a biography about him a long time ago and was impressed with his intellegence and sense of humor. Also, my kids used to watch an animated video called "Ben and Me" about Benjamin Franklin and a mouse. I loved it. It's a classic name and one of my favorites.

I couldn't find "nicknames" for the name Brenley on babynamer but I could find nicknames for some of the other names you are interested in... After you search the name you click on the link "drawbacks" and that gives you the nicknames.... I searched one name for you that turns out had quite a few nicknames!:

I'm really enjoying this thread. One thing I did when naming my children was to select a name with an easy nickname. My boys are Michael (Mike) and Stephen (Steve). Then I named my daughter a name that couldn't possibly be shortened to a nickname --- Claudia --- so the kids came up with Clyde in school.

I have a friend who married a guy named Short. Her favorite names were Peter and Richard, but she named her firstborn Russell.

Sheba- I liked Brittany too, but Brittany Spears kind of ruined it.

Marilyn- Benjamin Franklin was amazing. The more you learn about him, where he came from, what he did, the more you respect him. He was a very wise man, and a great role model. I did read that he cheated on his wife, but how can we know that is true? I prefer to believe it wasn't.

Sacausa- I am not showing my husband that list! :) It is good to know, though.

Jess- It can't be Shawn's because she never had sex with him. But didn't she lose it anyway?

Donna- isn't it funny how kids will nickname anything? I didn't think Rachael and Kindyl had nicknames, but their cousins call them Rach and K.K.

ICNJess

Sherry,

Before she married Phillip, she had sex with Shawn in a barn--remember the barn caught on fire? Anyway, the next day she married Phillip and then bam she's pregnant. Soo I think they may he leaving the door open with that one. She's got good taste in baby names...I do like the name Claire.

July
09-11-2005, 06:55 AM
Jess,
I'm sure it is Shawn's baby on Days of Our Lives, but who knows how long it will take for them to figure it out! Maybe the baby will be born with long black hair and an attitude! In Salem, the babies age quickly, so the child will probably be a teenager before they figure it out!

Sherry5
09-11-2005, 06:57 AM
Jess- I remember that, but I didn't see the whole thing, so I didn't know if they actually did it. Is it really a good idea to marry someone when you did it with someone else the night before?

I have always liked Claire too, but we already have one in our family. Of Course.

July
09-11-2005, 07:01 AM
Neither Shawn nor Belle recall having sex in the barn. Between the blizzard and cold outside of the barn and falling asleep inside the barn, amnesia set in! They had sex in their sleep. Now they do have dreams about it once in a while, but think it is only a dream....The saga of it all!

ICNJess
09-11-2005, 10:07 AM
LOL You are both right...why marry Phillip when she most likely had sex with Shawn the night before! Doesn't anyone in Salem have normal families?? I can think of at least five people off the top of my head who found out that at least one of their parents are not who they thought they were!

I wonder if when Shawn finds out he will be with Mimi, and Phillip will be so po'd he'll dump Belle? What drama! :biglaugh:

I really like the name Bridgette, but it was my cousin's name (she died during birth) so I won't use it if it's a girl, that would be too wrong. I also really like the name Alexis.

hi, is belle pregnant??? here in australia she only just got married , and phillip is going away on active duty, i must admit, i don't like days to much right now, the storylines are so weird, every body is supposed to be killed by marlena, they get buried, and then they all end up in a fake salem, including marlena,it's too weird, i rather watch the young and restless, and the bold and the beautiful,i can even accept taylor coming out of a coma, that can happen, i cannot stand stephanie, she is an interfering old bag, glad i don't have a mother in law like that, aaargh, funny how we can get so get caught up in the soaps, but i think we all have at least one person in there we like to strangle, what about you???? take care martha

Yes, Days got REALLY far fetched for a while there. You are a few months behind us down there. You're not missing much.

I've always watched two soaps in the afternoon while the kids are napping. I'll sit for a couple of hours and fold laundrey, or answer e-mails, etc. I never thought anything of it. My husband's schedule has changed, and he is home half way through my first soap, and has really pointed out that they are pretty ridiculous. years ago he used to come home at lunch time and watch days with me. Either they have gotten more ridiculous, or we have just gotten older.

I think no matter how old I get, I will probably indulge in a silly soap every once in a while. So, are you guys saying Belle didn't miscarry?

hi sherry, no didden't think i was missing much, i have watched days for 23 years now, but it really has gone beyond ridiculous, do you watch the bold and the beautiful?, i suppose we are behind there as well, we are only now at the part where taylor woke up from a coma, and ridge has to choose between taylor, and brooke, and of course meddling stephanie has to get her nose in again, they are funny those husbands of ours, my husband also reckons these soapies are full of ****, but if he is at home when the B and the B comes on, he always wants to know what is going on, he even noticed taylor's lips, he said what the hell has she done to those lips, now she looks like a clown, lol, aah, the wonderful world of silicone. take care martha :)

Belle didn't miscarry, but she was having those cramps and Lexie came over and said "oh it's stress, just lay off of stress"...well the stress came on from Belle watching Shawn and Mimi flirting and stuff. LOL What a mess!

Martha,

I am so sorry I ruined like the next few months of Days for you! There is a LOT that is going to happen in the next couple of months, if you watch Days hold on to your hat!

I'm also a Passions fan. I am sure after this baby is here these soaps will disappear from my life...which is not too bad, who can believe anything that happens on these soaps? Ok amnesia I can buy, but I couldn't believe it when Marlena was possessed like 10 years ago!

Okay dont watch those soaps, do watch General Hospital, Young & The Restless and All My Children. I kinda go from watching all the time to not so much, like with All My Children. But I do keep up some with like Days and I do know you get a chance to name the baby...I have watched the ABC soaps since like teenage years....

My daughter's name is Delia.

Congratulations.

Ohhh I love the name Delia...that is so pretty!! I wish my hubby liked the name Autumn, I think that would be so nice...though the baby will be a spring baby...there are so many names out there!! The past few years it seems that Madison, Olivia, Emma, and Emily have been quite popular.

Martha- I have never watched the Bold and the Beautiful. I only watch the two that came on while my children were napping. That means Days of our Lives and Passions. (it used to be General Hospital, but that Carli drove me nuts!)

Paula- you don't have to choose between Lydia and Grace, just name her Lydia Grace. My kids have a fabulous book called "the Gardner" about a little girl who was sent to her uncle's house to live during the depression and her name was Lydia Grace. The book was an award winner, and I have loved those two names together ever since. Delia is a beautiful name. It is kind of the same style as Lydia, pretty and feminine. Isn't it the name of that little girl on Everwood? (I know, now you guys think Iwatch way too much T.V. ;) )

I truly think that each name has beauty because it is usually given with the love and excitement of the mom and dad. To be able to name a child is truly a blessing from above in so many ways! God is so good to give us babies to name and call our own! I don't have any children, but I have nieces and nephews, and it is truly neat to see their names be so connected to their little personalities!

:) hi sherry, i used to watch passions, but for some reason they took it off tv, maybe they are waiting for the new series to come in, i used to think one has to be desperate to watch that show, but then i got hooked, i used to love watching Beth's mum, she was a bit :loco: , but i thought she was entertaining.
By the way i think lydia Grace is a gorgeous name, very feminine, i also like Claudia. take care martha

Wanted to add my daughters name to the growing list of suggestions, her name is Kylie Ann
When my hubby and I were still dating (wayyyy back when) we saw Kylie Minogue w/her old 80's remake Locomotion and thought IF we ever had a daughter, she'd look like her, well she does have the striking blue eyes and blonde hair! :) Her middle name Ann is both my mom's and mother in law's middle names. If they had different middle names she would have been Kylie Erin. :)
Oh and to the days fans, you just found another lol. I miss the first five minutes of each show because I am on my way home from work but as we know its quite easy to catch up ;)

July
09-12-2005, 01:32 PM
Windwalker,
Yes, it is easy to catch up on Days....some shows are almost complete flashbacks and some are just fantasies. Things can move pretty slowly.....but oh, do the children age quickly! Can't believe Chelsea is 18. It seems only yesterday she was born in that swamp where they found Princess Greta.......

Sherry5
09-12-2005, 06:49 PM
Kristi- How is that sweet new baby of yours? Has she started sleeping well? I love the name Kinley Ann. it's beautiful.

Wind walker, I can see how you and your husband could have a child that looks like Kylie Minogue! She is very pretty. I wish we could all age as well. My sister named her oldest Kylee. We wanted to give our second child a middle name to reflect both of our mothers so we combined their names and came up with Sharlen. It would have been much easier if they just had the same middle name :)

July- Not only was 18 year old Chelsea(Georgia) born like 6 years ago, wasn't she like miscarried? It seems like Billie wasn't even very far along. Go figure.

July
09-13-2005, 03:17 AM
Sherry5,
You know those evil DeMiras on Days....They arranged it all. They told Billie that baby Georgia was stillborn, but she was actually alive and given to a family in Salem to raise. I think you're right, Billie didn't seem that far along. Also, I'm trying to figure out how old Billie, Bo, and Hope are suppose to be. I'm guessing late 30s/early 40s, so they were married and had children (Shawn, Georgia/Chelsea) pretty young.

Sherry5
09-13-2005, 03:37 AM
And Shawn was like 8 or 9 when Georgia was born, but now she is 18 and he is 20. Hmmmmm. How old is Sammie supposed to be? She was at least 13 when Belle was born,(remember how she kidnapped her) so is she supposed to be 33? I guess she does have a pretty old son.... Bo and Hope are definately in their 40's (they just age well) But how old is Marlana supposed to be? She is pregnant, and she has kids in their 30's? If Sammie is 33, Kari is at least 35. That would make pregnant Marlana at least 55. She has an adolescent grandson for Pete's sake. Hmm....The miracles of Soap operas...

I was going to name our baby Grace if it was a girl after my Scottish grandmother. We had considered Helen and Margaret (Maggie as in Rod Stewart's song) too, as well as English names since I had other relatives who were English and my husband is English (though he seems to prefer Scottish names at the moment).

I wish you luck picking a name. It's not easy. I'm 31 weeks and debating on names too. We're now to four names too: 1) Duncan (Scottish), 2) Malcolm (Scottish), 3) Caleb (English), 4) Taylor (English) - can also be a girl's name too. It does seem easier to eliminate names than to pick one. Maybe you can whittle it down to two from four? In any event, good luck.

ICNJess
09-13-2005, 09:01 AM
I agree, it's a miracle how they all aged! I was 17 when they introduced the new cast and I was like "uhh...what???" because the day before Shawn D had been like 3 years old. And look at Sami and Lucas' son! One day he's like 4, the next he's 15 or whatever. And don't even get me started on Jack and Jen's daughter Abby. One day she was 4, the next 12, now she's 18?? What the heck??

CDfox- I have recently come to really like the name Margaret. My little brother just married a girl named Margaret and it really grows on you. (It helps that we LIKE her ;) ) My family mostly calls her just Marg. Maisy is a good Scottish nickname for Margaret, and I just love that!

I like Duncan and Malcolm best out of your names, in that order. I may be biased because of my Scottish family(and I like to watch reruns of "The highlander ;) ), but both of those names were on our short list when my son was born. Caleb and Taylor are way to common right now where I live. Caleb for a boy and Taylor for a girl.

It is hard for me to whittle, although I have taken Nicole out of the mix. I'm afraid she will have to come right out of the womb and tell me her preference!

Marlana
09-13-2005, 01:58 PM
Sherry- Marlana is not a real popular name and the ones who do have it spell it w/ and E...but I do like Brenly. Margaret is a nice name too but it reminds me of this crzy lady on my One Life to Live soap.

Jess; I wanted Benjamin for a boy too. I love the name..all the Ben's I know are handsome great guys. We ended up with Matthew Robert. and I do love his name. However, it is very popular and our neighbors have a boy 1 yr younger and they named him Mathew with 1 t. SO when we call the boys, it is Matthew and baby Mathew..so they know eachother apart.

You have to be careful about the meaning of names as well.
Windwalker, did you know that the name Kylie is the Australian Aboriginal word for a boomerang? Hopefully, this means that when your daughter leaves home, she will always return.
My son is Campbell which means crooked mouth! Not very inspiring but hey those scots!

Kristi I know this is taboo with alot of doctors and maybe some people also, but this is what I did for both my kids. My daughter had colic real bad and my son had his days and nights mixed up. But anyway I always mixed their night bottle, the one they had say around 10:00 or 11:00 with either a little cereal or applesauce or something. A little more substance other than just the milk. Growing up in the woods my grandparents and theirs always believed in this. You migh already be doing this, just a suggestion. I always wanted another, cant have one thought due to hyst., but when I think back to those days of sleepless nights and everything I always re-think. But I love babies so much even with the colic, crying and no sleeping...

I know!! Each baby is different. For me I had my fair share. With my daughter I was still young 22 and like I said she had colic so bad. I would wrap her up like a little mummy in a blanket where all you could see was her head. This was the only thing that would help with the colic. And then she HATED!!!! car seats. She would cry the entire time. There was one time when I was dating my sons dad and he moved to Dallas, so Shreveport was like an 4 hour drive for me. Going over there was fine, but coming home she cried the whole time. By the time I pulled in at my mom's she was crying and I was crying.... But she grew up to be the smartest kid I know. Full of ambition and just a joy. Had I had another like her in the beg I would have pulled my hair out. :biglaugh: By the time I had Cody I was an old pro. His only thing was mixed up days and nights and allergic to his milk. Could not figure out why he kept getting sick and had a rash. Had his peditr. tell me I did not know how to burp him right. So he said sit him on your leg put both hands around his head, like front and back and rock him back and forth. Can you picture it.... But all it was, was the milk. Once I got that straighten out, he was the perfect little angel slept great and was happy baby, totally different than Taylor was. So like I said each one was different.

It is funny looking back Taylor is strong willed, hard headed and can fight with the best of them, and Cody is laid back and sweet, like they both were when they were babies. Funny how personalities stick with them....

Kristi - I am so sorry! The whole world looks different without any sleep. My oldest was horrible. She only slept about 45 min at a time at night. I remember walking the halls in the middle of the night for hours just trying to settle her down. The whole rice cereal in the bottle thing did not work for her. And your doc will tell you not to do it. I'll give you a few suggestions.

ONLY feed her every 21/2 to 3 hours. I used to get so desperate to make her stop crying that I would feed her everytime she woke up just hoping it would put her to sleep. If you do this, it is not good for her or you.

try a vibrating bouncer to soothe her. Sometimes this was the only way she would sleep at all. Sometimes I moved her swing into her room and let her sleep in it.

Now this one sounds heartless, and I couldn't do it with my first but I sure did it with the other ones. When you are sure she is well fed and her needs are met, turn off the monitor. She really only needs you every three hours to eat, that's it. You may have to wait till she is a little bit older.

Mylecon drops. puts some in her mouth and stick in the pacifier and you may get a little peace :)

rule out medical problems. Constipations makes them really cranky and is easily taken care of. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions! Rachael's whole babyhood is a blur to me because I didn't get any sleep. Then when I had my second, I was like,"so this is what it is like to have a baby!" She was so mellow, and waking up every three hours was bliss compared to what her sister made me do.

Keep in mind, most of us only have one really difficult baby, and I considered it a blessing to have mine first. I didn't really know any better. :)

BTW- my difficult baby, she's 8 years lod now, borderline genius, and still my greatest challenge in this life. They do keep their personalities :)

Kristi, when Kylie was a baby, she had a real hard time w/everything (formulas, breast milk) and would be up all nite screaming, she would calm down if I would, not rock her but like really swing her, meaning cradled in my arms and just quicker swing movements, lol the glider chair, she would mellow out if I would glide to the point the back legs would come off the ground when I went forward. Shes an extreme kiddo, 9 yrs old now :) The docs finally suggested a formula called Nutramagen (spelling?) which worked w/her.

Sherry5
09-14-2005, 08:00 AM
Nutramagen is SUPER expensive. If you are breastfeeding and nothing else works, she may have a sensitivity to milk products. I had to go completely off of dairy with my second child, but only for about two months. After that she was fine. Nutramagen is what i used if I went out to dinner or something and contaminated my breast milk during those two months.

windwalker
09-14-2005, 08:03 AM
It was expensive (9 yrs ago now) but everything else, breastmilk, carnation good start, soy, your reg. formulas, all caused major screaming. Shes fine now at 9 yrs old, the child can eat anything, and usually does lol. Lucky shes a healthy eater! Loves her fruits n veggies :D

Sherry5
09-14-2005, 08:49 AM

she cries alot and wants to be held all the time.........she hates her swing and her crib and the vibrating bouncing seat......she has a boppy pillow that she will sleep in for a while in the middle of the night........its like all day long that is the problem i can barely get anything done........she will sleep pretty well until around 4 am after that its just constant whining and moving around and not fully awake but not really asleep either and i can't figure that one out........if i hold her she will sleep for longer periods of time and do it out of desperation sometimes......we do the mylecon drops cause she toots all the time and really acts like her tummy hurts and they changed her milk to prosobee soy , which she does or seeems to do better on ,,,,,,,some days.....the doctor said she didnt have colic or acid reflux.....but she spits up alot somedays.......and she has a rash that won't go away , they swear its a heat rash.....but its on her face .......and shoulder area and no where else.......well she has a few spots on her arms......and shes constipated so they told me to do the karo syrup in her milk which really isnt helping a whole lot......My first baby , who is 17 didnt cry all the time like kinley does but she didnt sleep either ......she doesn't cry 24/7 but sometimes i feel like it is.......lol shes only 7 weeks old though so i am hoping it will get a little better soon.......she is high maintenence but well worth it........My IC has gotten alot worse since having her but my uro thinks its just the stress in general of adjusting to a new baby and blah blah i don't know........and i keep getting sick , i guess from just being run down and tired from caring for her......but i know it will eventually all even out and get better........I know i am blessed by her being here and i love her so much , shes the baby i never ever thought i would ever have.....and now shes here......theres just not much better than smelling and holding newborn babies.

Are you using dark Karo? That almost always worked for me. Sometimes I had to resort to using a Q tip and KY jelly. It is not pleasant, but babies are soooo much happier when they are regular. It makes a big difference. You also may want to ask your doc for a sample of Nutramagin. That is what I did. It seems to help even the pickiest babies.

Good Luck!

Kristi it could still be the forumla. The rash she had sounds like the same rash Cody had when he was allergic to his milk. His pedit. at the time told me I just did not know how to burp him right. Wrote about that eariler. So one week he was on vacation and I took him to the other doc taking his calls, he walked in saw one look at him and the rash he had and said he was allergic to his milk. You might want to look into it further and try switching to another formula. There are some that even the prosobee soy they can not drink. With her spitting it up and the rash sound exactly like my son. Sorry if I sound preachy, but I went through the same thing with Cody. I hope you find some answer's soon.

If I'd had my daughter first she may have been an only child. My son was a breeze and then along came Hilary!
She screamed as soon as she came out. Such a scream that the medical staff just stared... I should have known then. She lived on my hip until she could walk. Either that or I would prop her up in the bassinet so she was up high. I had a really big one on wheels, it actually was the one Mum used for me and her other five children.
People told me that I was making a rod for my own back and that I should just let her cry. As a mother I reckon you should go with your gut feeling and mine told me that she needed to be held. She was quite shy but knew I would always be there for her when needed.
Hilary will be 17 on 17th Oct and is now a confidant young woman who plays jaz saxophone and has her own rock band. She blossomed in secondary school. I have this theory, that some poeple just don't like being kids and don't truly settle down until they are older.
This is a daunting thought when your baby is only 7 weeks but follow your gut feeling where your baby is concerned.
