I take cystoprotect and it has really helped! I still have bad days, but between that, naproxen and watching what I eat my pain has gone from off the scale of 1-10 to hanging around the 1-4 level with occasional spikes! I would recommend cystroprotect to anyone...plus they send you free samples!

It has some of the same components, but the two are different. I don't take CystaQ full time because I don't need it full time, but when I'm flaring it definitely helps.

I just read up on Cysta-Q on line. I emailed them and asked if they could send samples before I went ahead an spent more money on something that I can't take. let's see what they say!
I remember my uro in FL giving me some samples to try and I did for about a week. Not sure why I stopped. I was trying so many other things at the time . Now....I am trying one thing at a time to make sure I know what I react do and what I don't. I'm glad the Cysta-Q helps you! We all need something we can turn to when things get bad. take care!

Hi! I'm an estatic user of cystroprotect! Our ICN support leader suggested this over
cytro-Q. Within days my pain went from a 7-8 (while on pain killers and IC diet) to
a 1-3 each day! My pain started out off the scale for over a month! It took an
extra month to get my strength back. Then I started slowly exercising and learning how slowly breathe to relax my pelvic floor muscles and bladder when it starts spasming.I do rest a lot during the day and I make sure I have quiet time morning and
evening.I also follow the IC diet and eat bran cereal in the morning to stave off
constipation, which makes me worse. Last week I stopped my pain killers and have been doing great! Pain is still 1-3 with occasional spikes, but no pain meds is a thrill. I ran out of cytroprotect over the weekend and started hurting again and it put me back to bed. But, I'm back on it and just had to share the sucess I'm having so far!
My doctor said it can take the bladder up to 3 months to start healing and I've been
on it for about 3 months,so I think it's healing my bladder and that's why I can drop
the pain meds. I just hope this lasts, but I know God has a major hand in how I'm doing!
I know this company sends samples of cystroprotect and a really cool information
packet with a CD that is very informative for free!

Freedom or Mel,
Which would you recommend more: Cysta-Q or Cystoprotek? I am trying to find other ways to help the elmiron take effect (I have only been taking it for about 3 weeks)
Freedom, I looked at the cystoprotek website and can't figure out how to get a free sample or their cd? Can you help? Thank you both! :)

The Q in CystaQ is for Quercetin. I went to my local health food store to buy CystaQ and they did not have it. They did have quercetin, though. I bought the kind without vitamin C and I cannot believe how well it works. I only take one capsule in the morning and it's almost like I don't even have I.C. anymore. I am drinking coffee, eating tomatoes, chocolate, really anything I want and I have almost no pain anymore. :woohoo:

Yes, kristi, I had it all, including tail bone pain when I would flare. Mostly my ic presented as urethral burning. I can't believe the improvement with the quercetin. Oxana, I'm sure there are others more knowledgeable here than I, but I don't know why you couldn't take it with the atarax and elmiron, it's mostly herbal and natural. You might call and ask your Dr. though.

ladybug, I didn't look for this yet.
I have my curent meds(Elmiron, Vistaril, Ditropan XL, Urocit-K) and odered marshmallow root with cornsilk.

Ladybug, I am taking only one quercetin and two prelief in the morning. It seems to cover me all day long. If I really get out of control with my diet (jalapeno's or Wendy's chipotle sauce), I will take a couple of extra prelief and some cornsilk. I can't believe the improvement. I know we all have to find out by trial and error what works for each of us and it looks like I have found my solution.

bittersweetrain,
what other meds are you currently taking??
marsi4

You could take Quercitin with Elmiron and Attarax. I know Cystoprotek contains Quercitin and the doctor who deveoped Cystoprotec says you can take it with other meds. I take all 3 as well as a pain med.

Ladybug, I am taking only one quercetin and two prelief in the morning (coffee time). I also take anti-seizure meds which I believe is part of what causes my pain.
Marsi, I take the Solaray brand of NON-CITRUS quercetin - 500 miligrams, once a day. The prescribed dosage on the bottle is two capsules a day but one seems to do it for me.

Where do you buy your quercitin at? I tried looking for cornsilk liquid but only found cornsilk tea. Yucky. It hasn't helped with my burning though. I also take urocit-k and atarax. I am getting bi-monthly Elmiron instills but it is not helping either.

bunnykinb, I get it at my local health food store (Whole Health). They did not have the Cysta Q in stock so I asked about the quercetin and they did have that. If your store doesn't have it in stock, I'm sure they could order it for you. I get the Solaray brand, NON-CITRUS, 500 mils. I only take one in the morning and that will usually last me, IF I don't eat too much offending foods. I just ate a mexican pizza with spicey salsa so I took a couple of cornsilk and some prelief just to be safe.

I guess it depends on whether the store is cooperative to order it. Is the Solarary Brand for quercitin or the corn silk?
Thanks,

Actually, I think I get both the quercitin AND the cornsilk in the Solaray brand.

Yes you can take Cystoprotek with Elmiron and Attarax. I do. The doctor who developed Cystoprotek says you can.

After over a year on Elmiron and amitryptiline, and getting no relief, I've now decided to go the 'natural' route and I just started taking cystaQ today. I've decided to give it a good 5 or 6 months to determine whether or not it will relieve any symptoms. I stopped taking Elmirin and I am weaning myself off the Amitryptiline this month. They didn't help and I am more comfortable trying something natural anyway.
I was wondering how much cystaQ everyone takes? The bottle says to take one or two twice a day with meals. If I only take one twice a day will I get any benefits from it? It's so expensive, I'd like to try to use it conservatively if I can.

gotta go,
I was on Elmiron for over 4 months and didn't get any relief from it either. I know it usually takes longer, but, like you, I figure if natural remedies do the job, why continue with expensive prescription meds. I noticed improvement from the quercetin right away. Hopefully you will also. The dosage listed on the bottle is two capsules a day. I usually take just one in the morning. If I overdo, I just take an extra quercetin and it does the job. I just made chili with red pepper in it. Can't believe how well it works.

I tried Elmiron and it didn't help and my hair starting falling out.
I tried Cysta-Q and it worked for me. Less frequency and urgency.
Plus I found a website that sells Quercetin (main ingredient in Cysta-Q) and Bromelain (another ingredient in Cysta-Q) together for cheap!
Hope you find relief!

can you tell me what that product is. I have been trying to find something like cysta-q but have not been able to. I wasn't doing to well with the other ingredients that were in there. I am so sensitive to meds. Ild like to investiga the one that you are now taking. It might be something I would consider. If you don't want to post it on the board please prviate message me the info.
thanks,
