Pain at the end of urination stream...

Wow, this is a new pain. Had a Hydro / Cysto Friday Jan 2nd. Havent felt this before. Its very painful towards the end of my urination stream. I have a follow up appt on the 15th to see the Urologist that did the surgery. this sux... Still have backache, pressure, frequency, urgency, taking elmiron 3 times a day, is this a flare ive been in since sept? have had same symptoms since then non stop... not sure how to determine flare? anyone else have this pain at the end of the stream... feels like razor blades, pressure, just hurts like hell..... should I call him sooner?

are you on any antibotics to prevent a uti? did he give you any after your surgery? If not, I suggest that you call him and let him know what is going on with you. Will be praying for you. I tried calling you back but had the wrong number. Try to call me again when you can. Hang in there . There is hope. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Coleen, I had mine on the fifth, and boy, do I know what you're talking about. I've just assumed it's urethral irritation from the cath and extra sensitivity from the biopsies. At first, it was the entire time i urinated, but now, it's mostly at the end. It's making me crazy, and I don't want to drink anything so I can avoid it. I'm on 500 mg of some sort of antibiotic, so I'm pretty sure it's no uti. My doc's nurse said the whole urethral sting shouldn't last more than 3 or 4 days. Maybe you should call today and speak to one of the nurse or your doc instead of waiting, just to be on the safe side. Good luck! Jill

AuntieDebbie- yes he put me on levaquin, for three days only... I am going to call now and see what he says.... Have to run home to let puppy out so Ill call them then.. thanks though.. Just new weird pain and not like I feel like having any new pains.. Have been dealing for a while with constant pain, bareaboe but just a pain in the *** .. so sick of it
I just want to feel normal again....

Jill- yeah well I am on day 5 and it seems worse. I will call doctor at lunch and see what he says.. thanks.. Glad I am not the only one... not that i am glad u feel it too nbut just the fact we both had same procedure.. and u feel it tooo//.... Ill keep ya posted what he says.

When I'm in a flare that's one of my sypmtoms. Seems to start out OK but towards the end it's very painful. Mine has nothing to do with a UTI or hydro/cysto. Sue

Well the nurse said it sounded like I had an infection.. She will have the doctor call me back when he gets out of surgery... will wait till then... thanks for the replies... Only time will tell. banghead

YEP! 5 more days on Levaquin... See thats just it I am so new I have no idea what is a symptom and what is a problem? I probably wouldnt have called thinking im suppose to feel this way????? Dammit... Im starting to lose my patience... im getting realy mad and just want to feel good. On top of all this I have to work 40 hours, raise 2 kids, and put on a happy face for the fiance.... AAARRRGGHHH!!!!

I have that same feeling almost all of the time, but it is especially worse after a cysto or being cathed. One thing that helps is Pyridium. If the antibiotic does not seem to help make sure you call the doctor back and let him know. grouphug

My doc told me that the razor blade feeling can also mean that your bladder is spasming really badly. Do you have anything to take like detrol or ditropan, or even some folks take valium to relieve the spasms. I really hope you are feeling better soon. I can feel your frustration...and trust me ..you are not alone! grouphug IC is a very painful, often frustrating disease. Please come back and post to let us know how you are feeling! I have had this since this mess started for me about a month ago approx. Well, it started with flank pain, and seemed to move its way down. EVERY time I pee, its at the end of the stream when I want to scream. The beginning is not so bad but at the end it is horrible pain for me and I've not had any treatments yet except oral meds.

My bladder and urethra both spasm, and I can feel my bladder in a tight little ball when I lay down after using the bathroom.

I wish I had an answer for you, I dont have many answers for anyone about this yet, but wanted you to know you aren't alone in this.
