I had started solu cortef instills weekly again for about a month because it seems like a few days later I get 2-3 bearable nights. However after I found out that I absorbed enough elmiron in the instill to cause esophageal spasms/burning it really concerns me that I'd be absorbing solu cortef too and I don't want steroids absorbed systemically. Any thoughts?

My doctor and I have been discussing the possiblity of absorbtion. We do not know of any test done that research this. I met a lady who instills kenalog another steriod 3x day, and told me her doctor does regular blood test to check for absorbtion. I ask my dr and he said the only test he know of would be for adrinal function and may not even show up till after you go off a steriod. He also said the solu cortef is hydrocortesone (sp) which you body also produces so, no good test for it. From the research I read i think that absorbtion is very important question that needs tp be research, but may be so individual that that could be difficult. because of that my doctor has limited me to doing one solu cortef a week, with one extra I can do only in a flare. (never more then 2x a week!) I do find it very helpful! Any one else researched the issue of absorption?
