I was just diagnosed a couple of months ago and I am in pain almost everyday but most days it is tollerable. Yesterday I started my period and today I can't stand the pain. Is there anything you can do to make the pain better. I have two kids age 4 and 13 months so I can't take narcotics today because my husband is gone today. Help

Try some heat, my IC is definately affected by hormone changes and in my case the heat does help.

I also just got my period thursday and ive been in horrible pain. Im on seasonal which i get my period every 3months which u dont have to worry about it every 4 weeks. It better to be in pain from your period every 3months then every 4 weeks. Any questions just ask.

Taking PMS medicine such as MIDOL can alleviate the bladder pain since it helps stop the uterus from contracting against the bladder

Heat has been the only thing that I found for me that works. Try sitting in a warm bathtub full of water. Just make sure you don't put any soaps or salts in the water with you, they can make your flare up worse. Good luck:)
