Is blood in the urine a symptom of IC?
Thanks!

Not always. Painless blood in the urine can be other ailments, and not all ICers have blood in their urine. It can sometimes be a symptom of a UTI but usually you'd have symptoms of that. Check it out with a Dr or clinic. Good luck!
Many things can cause blood in the urine, so I would definately have it checked out. That being said, I often have blood in my urine b/c of IC. My uro says that some ICers do occassionaly have it.

I agree that blood in the urine can be caused by all sorts of things, you definitely need to have a doc check that out. I frequently have blood in my urine.

I sometimes have had microscopic blood in the urine -- you can't see it but it will show up on a dipstick test, and yes, that kind of blood can be caused by an IC flare. However, the only time I have had visible blood in the urine is when I have had a severe infection.
Definitely have it checked out -- it could be an infection or a small stone trying to pass or something-- but only your doctor can make the diagnosis...

Thanks everyone! The blood is noy visible but showed up on dipstick test at the urologist office and previously ay my ob/gyn's. I also had an x-ray that they do in their office of your bladder and kidneys. No stones were seen, at least not in the bladder or tubes. I do have several in my kidneys. I was concerned about the blood accompanied by the urgency and frequency that i have never had before.
Thanks!
