I don't have an uti . I am in a flare

I went to my fp today. I had him test my urine . I don't have an uti . I have in a severe flare. I told him the vicodin and ultram is not working . But he wouldn't give anything stronger. He just say take atarax 3 x a day instead of 2. take the pyruiduim and elavil and vicoin and ultram.I am so frustatred I was so sure it was an uti. I took my cat to the vet today they think he has cancer and put him on antis for the secondary infection. I take him back on wed. if he is no better I will have to put him down. I am so sad I was crying in the vets office.

Oh geez Kim, I am so sorry to hear all of it. I know how awful it is to think you have a UTI, and antibiotics will fix it... and come to find out, nope it's the IC giving you heck. And I completely understand the sick-kitty situation, I certainly hope all will be well with him. It's hard when you are sick and your little "comfort" is sick as well. I am sending healing positive thoughts to both of you!

I'm so sorry! Who but someone with IC goes to the doctor hoping for a diagnosis of a UTI. It's depressing to learn the pain can't be ended with antibiotics, and you just have to ride it out somehow. I have a Uro who won't give pain meds too, so that frustration of being left to suffer is well known to me!

And on top of that, having to worry about your poor kitty as well! I sure hope your vet is mistaken on the cancer and the little thing will be okay!

I'm sorry you are not feeling well. Did the dr. send the urine out for a culture? Or did he just check it in the office? I ask this because when my uro does a quick dipstick test in the office, he always says " looks crystal clear". Then when he sends it out for a culture, I've had it come back with a definite UTI. Just check to make sure the culture is sent out. I hope you feel better soon. liz
