Since I've been involved in another thread on here I started looking for old posts regarding what other diseases/conditions/syndromes you guys have.
I know many of us have fibro, most have IBS, some have inflammatory bowel diseases, diabetes, lupus.
I have my list of "things" wrong with me in my signature below. Please post your other problems, and how severe they are in comparrison to IC.
Thanks very much.

Sandy -- in addition to what's listed below I just got diagnosed with dermatographism, where the immune cells in the skin go haywire for no apparent reason and cause massive outbreaks of hives, especially where pressure, heat, or friction are applied to the skin.

I'm sorry that you have one more thing to add to the list!

I have TMJ, but it's not related to IC --- my brother also had it and no bladder problems. Does swimming pool ear count? ;) I also am treated for high blood pressure and I'm hypoglycemic. My mother also had hypertension and was diabetic --- no IC for her either.

Sandy, a regular MD combined with an immunologist consult diagnosed me -- it's pretty obvious when you look at the pics in the medical texts that it's dermatographism, but the immunologist ruled out lupus, thankfully.

I have IC, endometriosis, allergies, scoliosis, migraines.
I also wonder if I have fibromyalgia but have not been diagnosed with it! I am too scared to have anything else wrong! If anyone else has fibromyalgia, will you please
let me know what your symptoms are and how severe they are. I have alot of muscle
pain and joint pain. Some mornings it is hard to get out of bed due to the pain in my
back, legs, and feet. Of course this pain could be IC or my scoli acting up. MY IC
is by far the worst and most severe of all my conditions. :headbang:

graves disease is pretty stressing to me since i've had a thyroid storm that nearly killed me. i still get bounced around on synthroid. it's either too high or too low. never where it's supposed to be.
the endometriosis is painful too.
i don't know which of the 3 is the worst for me. right now, they all pretty much suck. :(

Wow, this is really amazing. I didnt count but the number of people with asthma is amazing. Thyroid problems, GERD, IBS and other stomach problems....Keep the list growing please. I'm going to somehow tally this all up and see where it gets me.....not sure it will get me anywhere at all but its a bit of unscientific research here. Plus headaches/migraines seem to be common.
To the person who asked about fibro, mine is an all over kind of ache in the muscles and joints, sometimes severe pain that is impossible to describe really. Before I had pain meds I would flop around on the couch like a dying fish, because I couldnt lay still, I couldnt walk, I couldnt talk or even think properly because the pain was in every inch of my body, every muscle and every joint. I still feel like that when I get up in the mornings and my pain meds have worn off. I do not speak to anyone or do anything in the morning before my meds have taken effect. That pretty much describes my experience with fibro---oh, plus when I was dx'd they checked tender points throughout the body, and you had to have 11 out of 18 of these points positive for pain when they push on the spot.....I had 16 of 18. Also was told I have myofascial pain syndrome which might be what makes the pain worse sometimes.
Anyway, thanks to you all, this is very interesting!

Besides IC, I have overactive (or neurogenic) bladder, congenital urethral stricture, IBS-D, and vulvar vestibulitis. And I also am seeing a therapist for my anxiety/low-level depression.
My IC and VV is under control, and I deal as best I can with the other urinary tract issues, which are mostly just annoying. Usually these days, the IBS is what causes me the most problems.
:welcome: Hi, I'm new here, but love this site-I have been diagnosed with IC 3/05, endometriosis, IBS, acid reflux, barrets esophogus.
I was wondering if anyone has had any of these symptoms:
-Feeling as if running a fever on and off when having a flare up
-a sort of restless stomach or nervous stomach
-Sinus infections/congestion
-constant pain radiating from pelvis down to ankles
-trouble concentrating
-confusion
-one sided aches (headaches, ear aches, hip aches etc.)
-tmj
-middle back pain
These symptoms might sound wierd, but I thought maybe someone could give me some insight. Thanks! :toilet:

Hi Vonn and :welcome: to the gang! This place is such a great source for information, support, etc, everyone is just wonderful!! :kissing:
As for the symptoms you list at one point or another I have had some of them, maybe all (just not all at the same time, lol :biglaugh: ). Not sure if they are related to anything, like my IC, or just plain old body aches and pains, lol. :cussing: I don't know if it can be classified as "confusion", but I have noticed an increase in scatterbrainedness sometimes, worse around PMS and yep, sometimes the trouble concentrating. My Hubby teases me now a days, that since we have all my other problems being controlled on meds, we need to do something about my A.D.D., :bonk: I have a tendancy now to start a project and then getting distracted and off on another one....Like when he asked me to get the cheese out of the fridge one time and for some reason I then decided it was a good time to clean out the fridge! :loco:
Here's a couple links to helpful areas on the site, one is to the Patient Handbook and the other is to the IC Diet foods list, if you haven't found them already! ;)

I agree with Tracey, I've had pretty much all of those symptoms too, but not all at the same time. I DEFINATELY have trouble concentrating, and my nickname is Luuuucy (for I Love Lucy). I'm scatterbrained, forgetful, and I too start something, only to move onto something else before I'm done with the first tast. Kind of like this thread....I started this with the intention of sorting all the symptoms and other conditions into categories, and I've started, but nowhere near finished!
The sinus congestion is a biggie for me, I'm restless but I think that has a lot to do with pain, and the TMJ---I have the loud, clicking jaw, but it isnt really painful for me (just occasionally).
Welcome to the board vonn. I know you'll love it here.

Hey, vonn. Sure can understand many of your symptoms. I have TMJ but have had it for many years. Definitely stress-related. Trouble concentrating comes, I think, from being so tired all the time. Some of that is IC-related but some of it is other-related. As for the pain from the pelvis down to the ankles, I have sciatica that runs from the lower back area all the way down my left side and into my foot. Not IC-related. As for the stomach problems, my stomach was in horrible shape until I discovered that I am gluten intolerant and started eating gluten free. Since I've been eating gluten free (since July 31 this year) my acid reflux, IBS symptoms, and lactose intolerance have vanished. I am feeling so much better. Don't know if this will help you or not, but felt like I needed to add my input for you. Praying that you find the relief that you need and get to feeling better. Blessings of hope and grace to you and yours.

I'll add my 2 cents worth here - I have had GERD for 8 yrs, and IBS for many many years. I had a partial hysterectomy 8 yrs ago, rheumatoid arthritis, chrondomalacia, TMJ, and amajor chemical imbalance which is called clinical depression. I've been on meds for that for 12 yrs now. I was also born with pyloric stenosis. It seems like there is a thread here. Many of us have GERD, IBS and depression along with IC.

*Allergic to codeine and penicillin

IC (I mention first cause it's the worst)
Urinary Retention bouts here and there
Severe Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Incontinence (Leaking)
Prolapsed bladder & repair 3 years ago and again currently
Compromised Immune System
IBS with a large kink in my colon
Fibromyalgia
Chronic Fatigue
Social Anxiety
Panic Attacks
Depression (Seasonal mostly)
Tension & Cluster Headaches
Migraines
I have a body that constantly tries to reject it's own organs and even when I was pregnant with my 2 daughters, I was in pre-term labor & bed rest for a minimum of 6 months with both pregnancies. My body is weird, I know.
Used to suffer from Endometriosis and Pelvic Adhesions prior to my partial hysterectomy at the ripe age of 28. (Removed my ovaries due to softball sized cyst on right ovary)
Removal of Uterus
Probably went on a little too much, huh? Sorry! :bonk:

PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), hyperinsulemia (elevated insulin), IC, and high blood pressure.
Meds - Micronor and Aldactone to control my PCOD, Diovan to regulate the blood pressure, Metformin to keep my insulin prob in check, regular DMSO treatments re IC, Gabapentin when needed for IC pain, Cipro (one prior to each treatment), and Pyridum when needed for IC pain (I don't take it longer than three days as it can cause jaundice and the uro tells her patients not to take it for extended periods).

opps, forgot to mention that I have Scoliosis too, but that's more of a deformation than disease but it does cause problems such as muscular pain and it puts pressure on some of my organs; though I’m lucky to have a milder for of it so I don’t need surgery (woot)
It is amazing how many other things we are all dealing with. I also have:
Fibro/CFS
IBS
RLS
PFD
TMD
Psoriasis/Psoriatric Arthritis
Migraines
And still being tested for possible MS

My list is long which is why the link to healthstory in my signature is where you find it for me.
I have a hystory of Ulcerative Colitis...I lost my colon to it at age 12 so I would call it severe!...When I speak of my pouch it is the portion of my small intestines doing the job my colon was supposed to do. Throughout my pouch's exsistence it has had Inflammatory Bowel Disease...my official diagnosis:pouchitis.
1Endometriosis, sever...had a full hysterectomy and occassionally still have symptoms.
2Rapid Heart Beat, not severe but when not treated doesn't allow me to move much...with treatment though doing ok
3Low blood pressure, has had its times when it really scared my doc. Only fainted around 5 times from it though.
4Intersticial Cystitis, very severe before treatment. Worse pain I have ever experienced which includes multiple surgeries... none the less with multiple treatments I am no longer in constant pain.
5Pouchitis, not usually severe but currently although it seems to be in remission other than a perforated ulcer...the perforated ulcer is bleeding and so unique of a problem I may loose my mind.
6Epilepsy, Very severe. loss my memory because of the dammage my first seizure did...am often on 3 meds for it. With treatment though currently my seizures are usually only simple peti mal seizures now...which is basically just annoying.
7Yeast Infections, bad enough to need constant meds sometimes
8Reaccuring Shingles,With the help of vitamins to help my young immune system doing ok.
9Allergies, not severe but symptoms everyday.
10Rapid leg movement, not severe but symptoms everyday
11Gerd, imroving
12reacurring Gastritis, problematic still
13Gall Stones, no symptoms currently
14Tendonitis, no symptoms currently
15 PFD, quite severe. Biggest worry is the possibility of getting worse.
16IBS, kinda severe.
17 migraines no symptoms since hysterectomy

Katrina,
Wow, I never knew that you had such a long, and painful medical history. You really are so young! One thing that really caught my eye was the shingles. I had a really, really bad bout of them last year and no matter what I did or what I took I could not get rid of them, for about 9 months! Talk about PAIN!!!
I never have heard anyone describe their seizures as "annoying" either! You are such a strong woman!
You are definately an inspiration! If you can get through all of that, I can get through my problems--which are nothing in comparison to you!

I have M.S., IBS, and PFD. M.S. causes me to be incontinent with a major loss of bladder control and minor bowel control problems. IC flares make my M.S. symptoms worse and vice versa. I was diagnosed with both IBS and PFD last fall. They don't cause me as much trouble as M.S and IC but they are still forces to be reckoned with. Obviously IBS does increase my bowel incontinence but my bladder problems are much significant. It is very depressing to have to deal with all these health issues at age 44.

I do realize the original thread was started back in 2005. Anyhow, I had never seen it before now. I have been told IBS as well. I have not had much diarrhea lately. Oh! I have been told CFS as well. I could stand to have more energy right now. I deal with allergies and sinus trouble. In fact, I have taken Mucinex and used the neti pot today so far. I can tell many of us do have more than IC alone. We could all stand to have some prayer right now.

In addition to what's in my signature I also have TMJ, bursitis in both hips and wonder regularly if I may have fibro. My mother has it and I have a close friend that has it and they both say I have quite a few symptoms. I know there are other things, but these are only my most troubling. I have chronic hives, allergies, herniated disc (had surgery for it), vulvodynia, IC, gluten intolerance, migraines. When I look at all of the lists, I see many digestive problems. I wonder how many of us are intolerant to gluten and don't know it. I found out by accident when my husband was diagnosed. I went on the diet with him, and most of my symptoms went away. I think we all should try a gluten-free diet for a few weeks and see what happens.
