OK......I started a baby dose of Elavil a few days ago and don't think I can handle it. I remember trying it about 5 years ago at a higher dose and it make me sooooooo sick. I thought that if I tried less than 5 mgs to start that I could work my way upl I have heard so many people benefit from it.
I have NOT been able to sleep through the night on it...I wake trembling with my heart feeling like it is racing or pounding hard. The next day I feel sooooooo weak and dizzy. I am also feeling tingling and burning in my arms and legs. I already suffer with peripheral neuropathy but it is making it worse....or at the very least FLARING it up!
Has anyone else had bad side effects form Elavil? I just think I am so sensitive to meds that I won't be able to take anything for this horrible disease.
The only medication I have been able to take is a small dose of ativan (half a mg.) If I take any more than that I get the same dizzy and weak symptoms!
I feel like such a lightweight that I am afraid to even try the Atarax! I just looked at the bottle I picked up and the dr gave me a script that called for 25 mgs! I know there is a smaller dose of 10 mg. I told him I was really sensitive but I guess he wasn't listening!
Anyone else out there that is sensitive to meds!
thanks......I needed to vent....gotta go lay down now

Hi Brat,

I tried Wellbutrin a few years ago and it made me want to jump out of my skin. I remember having horrible crying fits on it and feeling EXTREMELY jittery.
Maybe antidepressants are not the way for me to go.
thanks for sharing your experience with me.
