I just added 150mg Wellbutrin to my Paxil CR dose, to help correct the sexual side-effcts. Does anyone know how long it takes for the Wellbutrin to kick in?? I imagine it would be a week or so, but any ideas would be helpful!

Thanks in advance! :)

I just tried Wellbutrin and stopped taking it after a month. I only took 100 mg a day. I didn't feel any different. Maybe if I'd taken 150 mg it would have made a difference. I wanted it to help me with irritablility without weight gain. After a month, I was as crabby as ever so I stopped. I wasn't taking Paxil so I hope it helps you the way you need for it to!

Thanks Marilyn! I am hoping that I can sqeeze the "quit smoking" benefit out of the Wellbutrin also, lol. I have noticed though, that it certainly makes me forget about food! The other day it was 6pm before I realized I hadn't had anything to eat all day! ACK! (That's how it worked before when I used it to quit smoking, it made me forget about them, it was great!)

What difference did you notice Brat? I never figured out what I was supposed to be looking for. I'm sure I didn't take a high enough dose to make any kind of difference.

Hmm, that's good to know! I am thinking on calling my doc and seeing if I can up to the Zyban (it's just a different name for the Wellbutrin, lol) "program" of 300mg a day. I have been on 150 since Saturday, so I should be good to up the dosage, just gotta check with her first. (When I tried the Zyban almost a year ago, it interacted with my ditropan horribly, so it had to stopped, but so far I seem to be tolerating it just fine!)

Thanks guys for the input!!! At least now I have a timeline to kind of judge by!! ;)

Just saw this but I took Wellbutrin to quit smoking...and well, it didnt work, BUT, I also didnt put the effort into it that I should have. I was quitting with several nurses I was working with at the time and 3 of the 5 of us quit for good with Wellbutrin. You may want to try using the patch, or gum along with it (one or the other, not both, or you'll OD on nicotine lol).

Good luck girly!!!!!!!!

Now its my turn!

I used the Zyban program almost 4 years ago, and it worked wonderfully, I was quit for a year. Then one divorce later and all my hard work out the window...... :(

Last fall when I thought I would give it a try again, really had the gumption and nerve to quit, the combo of the Ditro (only IC med at the time) and the Zyban was horrible. It affected my vision, I couldn't focus right, ugh. So, I tried at that time doing without the ditro, figured if I could just get through 3 months I could be quit and good to go...I didn't even make it one day without Ditro, so Zyban went instead.....

I quit cold turkey every time I was pregnant. And it worked like a charm...breast fed my kiddos and managed not to smoke for 18-20 months, THREEE TIMES!!! And ya know, I'd finally get to go have that first beer or glass of wine, and bam, I was smoking "just one" with the beer, then one more, and after a couple weeks of that I was hooked, again, 3 TIMES! Isnt that insane!

I hope this time the stuff will work with the ditro...I know how much that is NEEDED!

I wanna quit smoking but I dont want to get pregnant to do it LMAO!

That is so funny Sandy, my girlfriend's doc asked her what it would take to get her to quit smoking her answer was "getting pregnant!" LOL!!

Yeah, I know how it starts...I started with just a puff off someone else's, and it would taste horrible, and I remembered that it wasn't as good as I remembered...then it got to where I only smoked on weekends, funny huh? I was fine all during the week. nex thing I know the ex set me off, and out I went and bought a pack...sure could kick myself now!!!! UGH!

I just called the doc's office to see if I can up the dose to the Zyban levels, and see if the side effects come back. Last time it wasn't til I went to the 300mg a day that the eyes started going wacky on me, but back then I was also taking 3 5mg ditro's a day, now I am on 5mg only at bedtime...wish me luck....... ;)

Good luck! Ya know I'll be thinking about you, and who knows, if I'm not going insane here maybe I can quit with ya....I really do want to! Plus if I quit maybe the bf will quit! I was thinking about having one now but its raining, so, I guess I'll have to wait. Thats the good thing about smoking outside, cause if it rains or it's too cold, I dont have one.

Oh yeah, I know what that's like! Before my Sweetie moved in with me, we used to stay at his family's cottage up here on the weekends when he was up. And we'd smoke outside, just wasn't worth freezing my butt off in Feb or getting wet in the summer!! LOL

Yep, hubby says he'll quit if I do, he wants to also, hell, I am tired of paying the money for them!! It's crazy! You know I am here if you need me, we could do this together... keep it interesting!!! ;)

It would be interesting alright LOL!!! I am down to where I can actually count how many cigarettes I smoke in a day, so that is pretty good. It's always less than 10 (well, most days it's less than 10). I figure if I can get down that low I really can quit all together. I am getting to the point where I dont like them so much anymore, and they really make my bladder worse.

Me thinks we need a plan!

:)

Oh yes, I am smoking like a chimney here lately, don't know why. I too am just tired of it, I know I can do it, I have done it before, but the "fear without a name or definition" of being without them is back, ack!

I got a call back from the doc's office, and she doesn't want me to up the wellbutrin to 300, she said the 150 should do the trick. Probably cause I have the Paxil too. I plan on setting my quit date in appx 2 weeks (following the Zyban plan of action, sort of -- they say 2 weeks from when you start taking it, even last time I went 3 weeks, lol)

So we shall see...yes would be fun to see what we can do!! My girlfriend and her hubby are planning on quitting too, she orderd the free nicotine patches, they send 2 months of patches, with the step-down dosages, and the gum. Going to be a whole bunch of crabby nervous people!!!! LMAO

Hugs!
