This is off the topic of scary movies (btw, I see a commercial for a scary movie and hide under the bed and don't sleep for 3 weeks!) but I am really looking forward to seeing Monster In Law on Tuesday. Ya know, that was based on a true story--my MIL was the inspiration!! ;)

I loved The Village and Sixth Sense, both movies by M. Shamalyn. They are not completley scary, but make you jump time to time and are suspenseful. I watched Blair Witch again the other night. I saw it in the theaters, but was not impressed. However, I actually liked it better this second time around. Pretty scary. Last night The Grudge was on HBO. It was ok. Again, just those jumpy parts from time to time. My brother says I should see The Ring. I've never seen it. He says it is more eery than scary. I liked The Others. As a spoof on scary movies, I liked Scary Movie 3, especially the part with Michael Jackson :biglaugh:

Just had to join in on this one. I too LOVE scary movies, and agree that now a days, you after watching the new ones, you just kind of go "well, that wasn't very scary" or "that sucked!" LMAO! Now I want to see the two that you all have mentioned!! "The Ring" was fairly decent, and I want to see the "The Ring 2" also!

I have just noticed that all the ones that come out now a days, I end up feeling like they could have been better, like they had real potential to knock-your-socks off, but fail somehow...

Hey guys,
I like Scary movies too, can I come? We went to see The Ring 2 in Theatre and it was SO freaky! I went with my Step Brother and DH when my Brother was here for a visit from Utah :) Mom actually watched Ab so we could all go and it was Great just to get to see him and be by ourselves for a while, even though I love my daughter I miss him too very much and we had a blast! I sat in between two guys lol so I should have felt safe but didn't really ;) all I have to say is get it when it comes out where you are ;)
And let's see what else.....Hide and Seek was pretty good, The Grudge was OK a little confusing sat through Theatre's in that too, DH left his hat in there and he's always scaring me and pulling pranks, that was my one time to get him back and I didn't lol@me, he had to go back in the Theatre pitch black after that movie and get it.....I should have snuck back in there and made that throat noise but, stupid me chickened out lol.
I also want to see Red Eye about the Possessed Man I think and the Airplane not sure what they have in common lol or what the plot is but, it looked freaky enough for me.
Take Care.
Kate.

PS Pass the popcorn and extra butter, Can I have a coke too? I know they;re a no no lol ;)

Barb,

Oohhh no, I think I've got the worst MIL...she makes Satan look like a school girl in pigtails!

Ya know what movie scared me so bad I didn't sleep for 3 weeks? (I was 17, this was not recent LOL) the newer version of House on Haunted Hill--I am such a big baby though. But OMG I will never see that movie again!!!!!!

I loved Secret Window with Johnny Depp...it's more like a psychological horror/thriller. Not scary, but if you are into that kind of thing, watch it!

I really do not freak out easy from movies but a couple I have seen did it to me..."House of 1000 Corpses", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (recent one), and "Saw" really creeped me out. Anyone else seen these and agree? Ann

I freaked out on the blair witch project.

I haven't seen "Saw" but have wanted to, looks quite creepy. I am waiting for "movie-watching-season", lol. That's the winter time activity. I need to start making a list of ones I want to see, instead of getting to the video store, wandering and saying "ok, now which one was it I wanted to see??"

In the history of my scary movie watching, the all-time-scare-the-heck-out-of-me-won't-watch-alone-at-night is "The Exorcist", yikes that movie gets me...and of course I just had to buy it, lol. I loved "Poltergeist" too, the 2nd and 3rd didn't really care for but the first, wow. Had to buy that one too, lol. And the only scary movie to ever give me nightmares, was of course "Nightmare on Elm Street", am I a giving away my age? Mind you I was in highschool when I saw that! :)

ICNJess
09-12-2005, 03:45 AM
Tracey,

LOL I can't even watch Nightmare on Elm Street--good grief I get Freddy Krueger nightmares for weeks!

My sister was in her teens and babysitting me when that came out in the 80's and she made me watch it!! (Ugh big sisters!) To this day I can't look at anything Freddy Krueger related.

Hubby on the other hand, LOVES horror movies. He's got the whole Hannibal Lector collection, and is now working on Nightmare On Elm Street and other various collections.

Know what movie I was actually able to watch? All the Scream movies! I am still surprised, I even saw one at the theater.

You know what I thought was really scary and I cant even think of the name of it right now, but it came out recently and it had Sara Michelle Geller in it. It was a re-make of a Japanese horror film. The scary person made this horrible sound with their mouths. Gosh I wish I could remember the name UGGG. I also was scared for the longest time of like the first Friday the 13th movie and the Nightmare on Elm Street. Gosh I feel really old with those movies now.....

traceann
09-12-2005, 03:53 AM
Oh my that's too funny! Yep, Nightmare On Elm Street was the only movie to ever give me nightmares, crazy eh? Still rather freaks me out too!!! Damn, I can even remember the nightmare like it was yesterday!! ACK!!!!

I think through the Scream movies, I sat and watched mostly through my fingers, LOL. Slasher movies are hard for me, they always involve some sort of sharp pointy object!!! I hate knives!!! LOL Why can't they just use guns....twisted, I know ;) I really like the first Friday the 13th, it actually had a plot and a "reason" for why things were happening, I think they got a bit carried away with the sequels, a bit far-fetched I must say. And I too loved the Silence of the Lambs and the ones thereafter. Love the crime-drama-thrillers too.

Ahhh, they just don't make scary movies like they used too... I even used to watch all the corny Vincent Price movies, lmao!!! :)

traceann
09-12-2005, 03:55 AM
Oh that's funny Patricia, I too just mentioned the Friday the 13th movies!! Yeah, I feel old too, they were my teenage years scaries!!! The "thing" in "The Grudge" (I think that's what you are talking about) reminded me of that chick that came out of the TV in "The Ring" (think that was the one) --eek creepy!!!

ICNJess
09-12-2005, 03:57 AM
Patricia--Are you thinking of The Curse?

Tracey,

I sat through Scream like that too LOL! You know what horror movie I cannot get enough of though? The Shining--and Carrie! OMG Carrie 2 was freaky, I saw that at the theater too...guess I'm not as big a chicken as I thought I was LOL. Anyway there's this part in Carrie 2 where she makes all these spears go flying through the air, and one hits this guy right in the privates...ohhh God I am still recovering from that part!!!

Tracy that is it "The Grudge" !!! The noise it made freaked me out. Hubby and I were in the room, lights off and kids where in the living room watching something, and when she goes up into that attic and you see that thing I screamed like a big tittie baby. And "The Ring" girl uggg. I hate seeing her crawl out of the TV and up that well. We just watched "The Ring 2" it was okay, not like the first one. I also liked "Thirteen Ghost" to. How fun....

09-12-2005, 04:04 AM
I also love "The Shining" and "Carrie" also. I also like watching "Christine" again to. I tend to watch the scary parts with my hands over my eyes, but fingers parted to still be able to see through them.

09-12-2005, 04:05 AM
Oh I loved Carrie and The Shining. Read the books too. Did you ever see the remake of The Shining? With the guy, Steven Webber? That one was sooo true to the book and scared me more than the Jack Nicholson version!!!

ICNJess
09-12-2005, 04:07 AM
Was the Steven Weber one on USA for awhile, with John Stamo's ex...right?? I saw bits and pieces...I think the part that gets me the most in The Shining (original version) was that part with that bloated corpse in the bathtub...I nearly jumped outta my skin!

traceann
09-12-2005, 04:08 AM
Oh yeah, gotta peek through the fingers!! Or, I just take my glasses off, lol. I am blind as a bat, and can't see a damn thing without them, lol. ;) Yeah, I too liked 13 Ghosts, loved the plot of that one!

traceann
09-12-2005, 04:13 AM
Oh yeah, I do believe they ran it on USA, I know it was an on TV movie, I think originally on ABC. Not sure anymore. The first one, the 2 little girls in the hall also freaked me out along with the corpse in the tub! Yikes!!!! I also loved The Stand, I want to buy the movie, as I liked it as much as I loved the book!!!

patricia1
09-12-2005, 04:15 AM
I just saw that one yesterday!!! Me and my daughter watched the end of it. That was one scary freaky hotel. Haunted places like that always appeal to me. I like to watch like haunted hotels and old houses on TV, usually the Travel channel. The old Antebellum Houses and stuff, I guess I am just strange that way....Hubby hates watching that stuff.

tigger_gal
09-12-2005, 04:36 AM
ok thought I posted this,, it must of been ghostnapped... I watched the saw and didn't care for it... why someone would take people and chain them up and have to cut off there arm or leg to get the chain off and kill the other person to live is beyond me.. I actullay fell asleep and never seen the ending... I kept watching hoping it would get better instead it put me to sleep....
I loved 13 ghosts... and
I want to see the one advertising now, I think its called the super natural..
The only movie that really had me terrified is the orginal uncut version of the Exorcist.. I could never watch that until recently.. and it was freaky... If you never seen the orginal uncut version, you aint seen nothing scary.. I couldn't sleep for weeks... I never understood why there was 2 versions... now I know, they cut out so much of the movie, because it was so disturbing, it was mandatory back then to be edited...

Patricia,

Check out Ghost Hunters on Sci-Fi, Wednesday nights. I love watching Haunted shows. Haunted hotels is the best, and one show they did the Lizzie Borden house--freaky!! But yeah Ghost Hunters is an awesome show. I make hubby watch it with me, and he just rolls his eyes. :)

traceann
09-12-2005, 05:23 AM
Ok now I gotta get the uncut version of "The Exorcist", don't think that's the one I got...LOL

Patrica, that's an actual hotel too, yikes! I too love the Travel Channels haunted houses/hotels things too!! ;) I have always been into that sort of thing, lol. Scares me but thrills me at the same time!!

I also kind of liked "Ghost Ship", I do believe it's a remake of an older B movie, but it was fairly decent. I've seen Jeepers Creepers, but haven't seen the second one, I think they came out with a second one...LOL That one got me with shock value, I jumped quite a bit...LMAO! And I know it was mentioned earlier I too LOVED "The Others", wow, great ghost story...

Forgot to add this to my last post, duh. So that's the premise to "Saw"? People left to their own devices chained up with only hope of escape is to um, self inflict a wound??LOL

Hi, The Thing is quite scary (it features a young Kurt Russell). The Shining (with Jack Nicholson) is a great scary flick (the hubby and I watched it a few days ago).

traceann
09-28-2005, 04:20 PM
Hmmm, I can't remember if I ever saw "The Thing"! I will have to look out for it in the video store! Now that we have digital cable we get Cinemax, etc. It drives me nuts too! I have seen more beginnings, middles and ends of movies, but not one straight through!!! UGH. We watched the second half of a movie one night, and then like a few days later I got to see the beginning. It's so annoying! Hubby doesn't seem to care where it is in the movie, he ends up leaving it on, and I end up watching! Last weekend I caught the last 40 min or less of "Gothika", I have been wanting to see it, but still haven't caught the beginning! GRRRR!!!

Hugs!

I have soooo many now in my mind, and I know that as soon as I go to the video store...I will wander aimlessly trying to remember the names of what I wanted to see, searching the video covers for some kind of spark to remind me.....LOL
