I have a complex hemmorhagic cyst in my left ovary and some on and off symptoms of IC (not diagnosed yet). My gynaec has prescribed a birth control pill that i am supposed to start this sunday. i have never been on one and am really worried thinking about the effects of increased hormones and also the side effects of the pill.
I am wondering if BCP pills helped anyone with cyst. I mean i know they could prevent the formation of new ones but did they help shrink the already existing ones. If not then taking them would be useless.
My family practitioner had mentioned that she did not think they would help, but now my gynaec has prescribed them
Please advice me
Thanks

Yes, I started taking the pill at the age of 14 for multiple complex hemmorhagic cysts and endo. I also had PCOS so I formed a bunch of little cysts as well. The pills actually worked quite well for me anyway, and made my periods easier to deal with as well. Let me know if you have any other questions and I would be glad to share my experiences with you.

Thanks Barb,
I am supposed to start this sunday so i need to collect as much info as i can to be able to come to a decision. Did the cysts disappear soon after you started the pill. What were the symptoms with the pill.I have regular periods and no much cramps so i am thinking what if the pill messes up with my periods which have always always been regular.
For how many years have you been taking it and which brand. I am sorry for asking so many questions. I am a worry wart.
Thanks a bunch
