my urethra is swollen

My urethra is swollen I tried to cath this morning and had a tough time inserting it and I had the right hole. Grrrrrrrrr I am wondering why my urethra is swollen . the only type of pain Im having is burning pain . Not sure what to do.

Maybe a UTI? I don't cath at all, but when I get a UTI, my stream of flow is narrower than usual because of swelling. There is always a chance of infection with cathing. Hope you feel better. Liz

Yes, I agree I think you should get checked for an infection.

so sorry..never fun when you are in pain. The cathing may be irritating it and maybe the caths are to big

I agree double check for an UTI. Also make sure you are using the smallest caths possible. It could be that they are to large and irrating your uretha.

Seems you cant catch a break right now. Hopefully in the weeks to come every thing will work out for you. :grouphug:

Any time we have to put a catheter in, it increases the risk of infection --- have you been checked to be sure you don't have a UTI?

yes I have an latex senstivity. It doesn't say if it is latex or not.

normally the clear caths are latex free however it should have it on the box.
the red ones are the onces that are latex, and when i used them it didn't have latex or not on the box.
So you may be able to tell by the color.
I don't think there is but two colors i may be wrong, but that is all i've ever seen was those two.
