View Full Version : Infected hair follicle??

And I don't mean on my head! I thought my V.V. was flaring up, and well all of a sudden I was swollen and it hurt to walk, sit, go to the bathroom, stand, lay, etc.!! I lost so much sleep last night because it hurt so much!
The OB squeezed me in this morning and said that a hair follicle had become infected, swelled up, and absessed--which was why it hurt so much last night. It was draining while I was there, and my God, this is excruciating! It felt like V.V. but 30X worse! She said it's pretty common to have this brought on during pregnancy.
So my question is, anyone have this when they were pregnant, and what did you do for it?? She told me to take 4 sitz baths a day, and that it should clear up in about 4 days. I think I am going to go :bonk: :bonk: waiting for this to clear up!!
LOL I swear this could only happen to me :toilet:

LOL Leslie, my first immediate thought was "great, now what??" I wasn't mad at hubby, but I was scared...I was figuring everything from infection to something totally serious! I'm glad it just turned out to be this, though it's painful! I told hubby about it when he called from work because he was wondering where I had gone this morning, and when I told him I could hear his face turning green LOL

I bet Jess, if a man had to go through all the ups and downs of pregnancy, there shoud would be a drop in population quick. Take care of yourself. And don't make hubby to green ;)

Leslie I totally agree, I dont think men could handle pregnancy at all. They can be great big babies when it comes to pain or being sick. Let alone morning sickness, getting bigger, pain in the boobs and going to the bathroom 24/7. Then when it comes to the birth itself.....A whole nother story. :biglaugh:
Jess cant help with the hair follicles being infected never experienced that with either or mine. But you do feel when you have a disease like IC you will get ever uncommon aliment there is. If its out there it will happen to me.

Sorry to hear that Jess! That really sucks! I've had pimples down there that hurt a lot but nothing like that. Ouch! However, once I had the worst (well, pre-IC) urethral pain and urgency all day and everytime I sat or moved it seemed to get worse, especially at the entrance to the urethra. Some hours later, I realized that somehow a pubic hair had gotten stuck halfway up into the urethra. I felt about a thousand times better once I removed it. (Y'all can turn green now, ha ha!) :biglaugh:

I hope you're feeling better. I am also worst case scennario girl as well. It's like the little black cloud of doom is over my head all the time. Take of yourself and oh, sitz baths rock for owies in the nether regions.
Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Well I certainly can't wait for March...but I'm also loving pregnancy! My mom even said, "Jeez everything that can happen during pregnancy to you will!" But it's okay. :)
I am feeling better today, I think the warm water has helped a great deal. I found it interesting, though, because the doctor said when we're pregnant our immune system drops it's guard a bit, which is why I ended up with this in the first place. It makes me wonder just how much my immunity has dropped to certain things!
The things we women go through!
