Been so busy I haven't had time to write. On July 29 my dog was hit by a truck. Total accident. He isn't car smart and everytime one comes in the laneway he thinks somebody is coming to play. We he has a fractured pelvic bone and a couple cracks in the pelvic too. Still at the animal hospital. We go in 2-3 times a day to visit him. Started to walk a little on his own on Friday so making good progress. He didn't eat for almost a week and will not touch his dogfood so I've been cooking hamburger and he cobbles it right now. Mickey is ONE spoiled dog let me tell you. The doctor laughs when we are there how he acts vs how he is when we are gone. Knows how to play his mom that is for sure. We've made a stretcher like object so we will be able to get him in and out of the house. All entrances are via stairs so needed to create something to help him.

Miss him so much, it is like my left arm is missing. Even my kitten misses him, she went for a visit on Friday. They where so happy to see each other.

Hoping he will come home soon ! Will keep everyone posted.

It's so hard when our pets get hurt. When our dal*****n cut her leg very badly and couldn't go up the stairs, I slept on the couch with her.

Spoiled? You bet!

Aww Jen, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I know how you feel about him. I have so many animals but if something was to happen to just one of them I am not sure what I would do. I was trying to teach my baby squirell about the out doors and she got beat up by 2 other ones and you would have thought my child had gotten beaten up I was such a wreck. I brought her in and she slept in my shirt for the rest of the day...Good luck and I hope he is feeling better soon!!!

Forgot to add, one of the friendly cats from the barn had four adorable kittens and they all look exactly like the mom. She is now bringing them to the house trying to get them inside (every once in a while Midget gets in for a treat...oops). Now she thinks the "minnie midgets" can come in too.

Miss my dog so much but watching these kittens sure has past the time

Mickey came home today. He has a HUGH pout going on right now. I can't get him up to walk, he refuses too. I've tried everything. The tears start and I'm a mess.

God, if I ever needed more patience, it is now, please

I know what you mean, a couple of years ago, our little dog got hit by a car,-( injured hind leg, cracked ribs, etc. The vet didn't think that she would make it- but she did! ( at about the same time, I was just recovering from my heart surgery-- so both of us recovered at the same time- she still walks with a limp when she wants attention and it works.

When people ask me how many kids I have I have to include her! (she is the only one that minds me (cuddles up with me when it storms, or when mom doesn't feel good).

Hope Mickey gets better.

I know what you mean. Our dog (Bichon 20 months old) just had surgery this past Tuesday for stones. He had 6 stones lodged in his uretha and once the vet got in there she found 7 more up higher. And now he no longer pees like a boy but he pees like a girl now. He is supposed to rest and take it easy, yeah right. So he spends alot of time in his crate. He is supposed to eat special diet food (Science Diet) but he won't even touch it. So the vet said we could mix some of his other food in with it and she gave us a list of "people food" he is alowed to have. So I have been having to put pieces of chicken in his dish just to get him to eat. Gonna call the vet tomorrow to see if they can suggest something to give him to calm him down. You let him out of his cage and he acts like his old self jumping up and down, and he is not supposed to do that. He goes back a week from this coming Tuesday to have his sutures removed.

When our animals are sick we worry alot. They are our kids too.

I think I started this thread with "it's been so long", geesh a month later and I'm saying it yet again. Does life ever settle down ?

5 weeks later and Mickey is still healing. The fracture is coming along really good but about a week or so later he got some nasty pressure sores. We've been visiting the animal hopsital twice sometime three days a week to have the dressings changed and the sores checked. Today the one is at a point that we can almost stitch it up to heal faster. The other is coming along really good but he has got a new one from the pressure from the dressings. Poor little guy. He is getting so frustrated, tries to run and do the things he used to but just can't do it yet. Last night he had had it. My dad was at the farm doing the hay. Mickey always follows behind the tractor when dad is in the fields and this time he couldn't, up until then he was fine with it, not this time. He wanted in that field and he wanted it NOW. Kinda funny to watch him yet made me sad too.

Back on Tuesday to have things looked over again and then a decision will be made on the stitches.
