I'm beginning to follow a gluten-free diet to find out if I have celiac disease. (self-imposed) I have been having so much trouble with my GI problems lately that I started checking into this disease. I figured it couldn't hurt to try this and see what happens. My question is this: how long will it take for the diet to make a noticeable difference in my symptoms? Tonight, after supper, I am feeling a little bit better. Sure praying that this will help or settle my problems. Any help that y'all can give me would be greatly appreciated. Also any helpful hints about the disease or how to follow the diet or recipes or... How difficult is it to mesh the IC diet and a gluten-free diet? Anybody have lactose intolerance symptoms eliminated after they were diagnosed with celiac disease? How about IBS symptoms? As you can tell, I am clueless about this condition and in need of your help. Thanks for anything you can contribute. Blessings to all of you!

Have you talked with your doctor? I believe there is a very simple test that will diagnose this problem.

Thanks, Donna. After receiving your message, I called my doctor and told him what I was trying with the celiac diet and how it was affecting me. He told me to continue what I was doing but to call him if I have any problems. At this point in time no testing is planned. Thanks for reminding me to call my pcp. In the excitement of actually going through a few meals without the nausea before and afterwards, I just plain forgot to call him. Of course he needed to know what was going on. Blessings to you and yours.
