Hi everybody
I am 24 year old guy living in Sweden. For the last three years I have been told that I have chronic non bacterial prostatitis. Finally I got an appointment with an Uro in the hospital whho suggested a cystscopy. I was quite affraid of doing that but he told me that often bladder and prostate problems could be mixed up.
So today I had the cystoscope done. The doctor told me I had a reddness on the bladder wall exept that everything locked fine. He also told me he took a biopsy test from the bladder. I will have the bipsy answear in 2-3 weeks. I did not know why he made the biopsy, maby someone knows? What can be told out from the biopsy?
After I have spoken to the doctor I was rather concerned. I have suspected that I had IC for quite a while now. Should`nt the doctor see if thats what I had during cystoscopy, or maby thats why he made the biopsy to maby diagnose me when the biopsy results arrives?
My symptoms are frequency. I have to go quite often depending on how much i drink. I have also trying to figure out if impotence problem in males are associated wit IC, since this frustrating problem is also present with me.Have someone experience the same problem? Finally as I told you before I have not yet getting the diagnose, but I wonder if the redness on the bladder wall could be something else than IC? Could it?
Also what kind of analysis can be done to exclude bacterial infection. I have red that most original U-analyzis dont show any bacterial infection, but special culturing methods do,anyone know anything about this?

Best Regards Martin
PS: Sorry if my english is not perfect, but I hope you can understand the most off it..

The biopsies do help confirm an IC diagnosis, along with the appearance of your bladder. Most people with IC do have red areas in their bladders.

It does sound very much like what you have could be IC. I suggest you read the information in the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ And I suggest you begin the IC diet shown in the manual.

Warm hugs,
Donna
