View Full Version : cystoprotek
Isn't cystoprotek supposed to have the same effect as elmiron on the bladder? I was thinking about trying it instead of the elmiron, because of hair loss. Is there anyone that takes cystoprotek and has had success that is not on elmiron?
Have you had hair loss or is it something you're concerned about happening in the future?
i have already had some hair loss.
Well, hopefully someone else will see this and will be able to tell you if cystoprotek causes hair loss. :)

I tried the Elmiron twice (with no help) and stopped due to hair loss and other side effects. The cysto pills have helped me and no side effects from it. I have been taking it since sometime in Feb. of this year. Just ordered another 4 bottles.

Hi, I'm wondering the same thing, but slightly different reason. I've just started on the Elmiron but have been having a major flare of my Osteo arthritis. The pain in my hip and back woke me last night again ...and as you know we don't need anything else waking us up overnight!! :cussing: since the cystoprotek had the glucosamine and chondroitin ...I'm wonderiing if it would help with the osteo too?
The other thing is that I would normally take naproxen or another n-said for the osteo and can't because of anticoagulant effect of the Elmiron. Arrrgh! Too much. SO, I wonder about stopping the Elmiron and using the cystoprotek ....so I can take my antiinflammatory for my spinal arthritis. Who'd have thought life could get this complicated!!! :bonk:
I hope you can make some sense of all this .... Liz :hmm:

I take naproxen along with the cystopek. No problems with taking it at all. My doctor knows I am taking them both at the same time. I tried taking the elmiron 3 different times and could not handle the side effects. Took it for 3 months each time. After taking the first day of the Cystopek I didn't ache so much all over my body and I am now able to drink water without having pain so bad I couldn't stand up.

Hi PW,
Thanks for your reply. May be I should start the Cystoprotek next week, while I'm still on the Elmiron. Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could get benefits for my Osteo too?? My first thought was to add each drug/supplement on its own so I can tell what's doing what to me! I guess most anything is going to take it's own time to really work. And I'm only on day 2 of the Elmiron so don't know anything about whether I will have any side effects. If I sound a little confused .... it's because I am!! Glad to see you're having some relief with yur routine!! thanks ...Liz :) :hi: :cat:

Hi Liz, :hi:
Glad I could help. I find it strange how different things work for everyone. When I saw "PW" I was wondering who that was and then I relized it was me. :biglaugh: Good luck and hope it works out for you.

Does anyone know if you can take Cystoprotek if you have a shellfish sensitivity?

Apparently there are some folks on Cystoprotek who are allergic to fish or shellfish, and tolerate it without any problem. However, my doctor recommended that since I never eat any kind of seafood (or freshwater fish either) due to a childhood test that said I was allergic to it (I'm 49 now), I should try the first capsule in her office and sit there for a few hrs., just to be on the safe side.
