ok, i went to my uro last week becasue i had a kidney infection(normal for me to have one every2-3 months) and they set up an appoinment for me to go in today to have a cytoscopy(sp) in the office. so im there waiting by the tv for the test, with a paper sheet over me  and the dr comes in. he sits down and tells me that we arent having the test today :woohoo: and then tells me we are going to have a hydro/biopsy in nearly 2 weeks instead. :headbang: the infection i had turns out to be a serious one that usually means kidney stones and the dr thinks that each time i go in and get antibiotics it causes the kidney stones to not come out...anyhow im a little confused now. i got on here to look up what he discussed with me and nobody has mentioned stones being part of the reason for the test. has any one heard of this? i am going to have the hydro/biopsy, to make sure that i have ic and not cancer, (just what i needed to hear) but im still a little worried about the possible kidney stones (that he thinks probably get bigger, when i take the meds) and having to figure out if i will need a babysitter for my kids(5yrs and 23mo)just for the day or for a couple of days? anyhow if any of this makes since to you please reply, i would appreciate it. thanks in advance, kari

When I had my first cysto/hydro they were also looking for kidney stones to. If they see them and can get them out while they are in the most likely will. I hope everything goes well for you..

To answer your question, you may want to arrange for a sitter for the day following the procedure so you can get some rest. Hopefully by the second day you'll be able to care for them.

Being the Mom of a 4 year old, definitely get a sitter for a day or 2 even to cut yourself a break. Make sure someone is around that first night for you too. I hope it goes well, I have had it done 3 times.

I've got three little ones (6 and under) and didn't have anyone to help when I had mine done - but I wish I would have asked for help, at least for the day that I had the procedure. I've also had kidney stones before that were discovered around the time my IC symptoms were starting. I'm guessing it was a coinsidence (sp.) since I haven't read where there is a direct link btwn IC and stones. Regardless, take the time to take care of yourself. If you have someone who can help with the kids, I would definately suggest letting them help. Keep us posted on how things go.
