You know you're having a good day when the Wall Street Journal calls to interview you for a story. Get excited. Give a great interview! Help develop the story. Looking forward to it for a week or more!
Then, whammo, the story runs and our IC section was edited out. They warned me in advance and said that space available was based upon the current news. The second round of bombs in London may have that tanked the article.

Boo, hiss... well, maybe they will run it at a later date?
Oh Jill, how disappointing!

The same kind of thing happened to me when our local TV news called to do a TV interview...camera interview was over 30 minutes and endless "casual scenes" shot with me fake-shopping and fake-entering-a restroom later, and when the show finally aired it was 5 minutes long with 4 minutes of it being a local urologist who originally refused to interview until he found out someone else had! What made me the angriest? The one comment they DID air was after she asked me to list the life-style hindrances- among them I stated that "capacity was a big issue" and that was the ONLY part that was aired....made all of us look like "gotta-go" people instead of folks dealing with chronic pain and debilitation. Not gonna stop me, though....I have a big voice and even bigger resolve to get the world to know what IC is all about! I have been writing to EVERYONE!!! Politicians, TV stations, newspapers, magazines.....good thing my potty is close to my computer! We all have to keep working at it to be heard. Don't give up....Chances are Wall Street Journal readers wouldn't even glance at an article about anything that wasn't going to make them money!!! We need to hit the really compassionate ones....now who would THEY be??!!??

bboooo bbboooo thats just wrong.... couldn't they find anything else to edit besides the IC portion? It seems like every one don't want people to know IC is a real disease..

Hmmmmm --- maybe we should start a rumor that IC is caused by terrorists????? Seriously, I'm sorry they didn't run the story --- maybe later.

Jill,
Is there any one at the paper we can email? Strength in numbers.
I'm sorry for your disappointment.

Nah.... my contact is still good. It was apparently an editorial space decision. I'm confident that we'll have coverage in the future.

Hey there,
I just wanted to comment to K-9 Wife that it really isn't true that those who read the Wall Street journal wouldnt care to read anything that didn't make them money. I read the Wall Street Journal everyday and have for years, plus many many people I know read it as well ( I am in the finance field)and we aren't all money-grubbing jerks!! I am teasing, I know you didn't mean anything by that, but I did want you to know that many people I know who read the Wall Steet read it for MUCH more than the financial issues that are in there. In fact, one of the best health articles I have ever read was in the Wall Street Journal.
And about the interview-BUMMER!! I would have been so excited to read an interview about IC, especially from you Jill, in the Wall Street. Oh well, maybe next time :)

Point taken, Sarah, and I humbly apologize. What I was trying to say was that the paper wouldn't run anything that wouldn't sell papers and make them money. probably even THAT would have been thoughtless too. Thanks for keeping me humble! For the record, many of my own friends and family subscribe too!

oh well you tried honey and there will be another time. At least they consider it important enough to put in there instead of a little blurb in a medical book like it was even 10 years ago.
