I normally take either Maxalt or Amerge for them (two triptan meds made for migraines) and lie down and wait them out. Putting heat on the back of my neck and a cold compress across my forehead while I'm lying down seems to ease the pain some too.

However, last time I threw up my pills, so I am thinking of either getting the new nasal spray migraine med (forgot the name) or an injectable form of Imitrex or Maxalt (these come in an EpiPen like device so you quickly stick yourself).

I take Limbitrol and Inderal (from neurologist) to prevent them. When they come on bad I take an Imitrex shot. I have to be really careful with meds I take for IC because some have caused migraines. I can only take up to 2 tylenol everyfew days or IC will flare up. Imitrex does not bother my IC. Hope this helpls you

I have suffered from migraines for the majority of my life. Yikes!!

Identifying my triggers has helped immensly. My biggies are the sun, heat and sleep deprivation. Also I cut out aspartame about six months ago and saw a drastic improvement in my migraine patterns. I also go for regular chiropratic visits.

When I can't avoid them I have found the meds that work best for me are Relpax, Amerge, Phenagren and Indocin. Relpax and Amerge are triptans. Phenagren is for nausea and Indocin is an anti-inflammatory. And of course, a cool dark room and something to cool my forehead helps as well.

I have been under the care of a neuroligist for my migraines for a couple of years now. It is really a trial and error process when it comes to migraines. Good Luck!

For me depends on the type of migraine-for stress ones it is Fioricet and for cluster ones Imitrex, but if I dont get the injection soon enough then it is IV hydration and Morphine w/phenergan. Migraines suck-almost as bad as IC...

I have migraines often (about 1-2 a month) and was given Relpax. It helps with the nausea as well so I dont bring the pills back up a half hour later like I do almost all the other migraine meds. You take one pill (I dont know the dose off hand), and if in an hour the migraine isnt gone, you take another. I've found that one almost always helps me. All migraine meds make me feel a little strange but this one has been the best one by far for me. My primary doc rx'd them on a weekend for me when I had a killer migraine hoping it would get me through til Monday...I've never had to take anything different.
