see, i have had the symptoms since i was 5.
i used to take bubble baths all the time.
that could have irritated my bladder and when i am 5 they dont believe that people can have UTI's at that age.
also, wiping back to front can cause infections.
a lot of things can cause infections and sometimes you don't realize that you have them.
so maybe they get so bad that it causes irritations and then acids and then ulcers?
im not sure. i mean, i am only 17 and i myself am baffled by the posibilities.

I agree, all the possibilities can baffle one. I use to think of all the things I must have done to cause this disorder, things "I" must have done that started the irritation, started the symptom. But once my brother started having similar symptoms, I realized, I didn't do anything to cause this, it's not my fault. I think it's something I simply was predisposed too.

I do think we most likely were predisposed to in some way or another....maybe other things such as infections, acid, things in the water, and many other things helped to trigger it. Since we don't know what causes IC we can't blame ourselves since we didn't know.

My first symptoms that I know of were at age 13....I had recently had abdomenal surgery...a common trigger. Infections are a common trigger too. I also strongly believe that kids are often considered impossible to have things and yet diseases are showing up earlier and earlier. Who knows. :grouphug:

yeah, i understand. see, i am the only one that they know of in my entire family that has this. my doctors said that it hasn't been proven to be caused by heredity so i do automatically think of what i could have done to cause this for me. i wish that there were more answers available. :/

they have no clue why, what, or how come IC comes about.. They all have theroys.. but so far nothing really has panned out.. I have IC so dose my Mom, her sister, and 3 cousins on my Moms side.. I truly think that IC is going to remain a mystery, at least in my life time.. I do hope eventually they find one pill to help it all, or with my higher hopes a cure.

Actually it's not at all unusual for little girls to have UTIs --- even at age 2.

You know, I was the only one in the family too, til recently.
Now it turns out there's another relative who has it,
and another who started having symptoms about 4 months ago.

So, you don't really know, I guess.

I'm the only person I've ever met that has this problem. I think that mine was probably brought on by a string of UTI's that followed on right after the other! I would go a month or two without one and then another one would pop up. It was a bad year, and when the last one turned up negitive I was lucky enough to have a doctor that suggested IC right away and even recommended the best uro in the area. I had a hydro and quickly went into remission. I still don't know what caused all of those UTI's I had always done everything that they had told me but I don't doubt for one second that there is connection. Especially since I had my first UTI in a while in early May and after that I had some random frequency and sudden urgency that would appear out of no where and then quickly go away, and I am now one week from my wedding and in a full on flare :headbang: I'm going to be okay though....I keep telling myself that but I do think that UTI's a IC are definatly linked.

I have not been diagnosed with IC, but I had my first UTI abroad and ignored it and since then had frequency issues and three or four UTIs since...I def. think there is a connection somewhere
