We signed the papers on the house last night...today is the closing, and we are allowed to go to the house at 9pm tonight!

I feel all sorts of mixed emotions, happy, nervous, anxious, overwhelmed, joy....

This is our first house and it was a huge thing and huge expense, especially in this first year of IC with all the hundreds of medical bills I have racked up. I hope we made the right decision choosing this house, hope the neighbors are nice, etc....

Also...guess what! We get the house at 9m tonight and we LEAVE to go to England 2 days later! We had our plane tix for months and it just worked out like this, we would never have planned it like this. So we get 2 days to be in our new house and start moving, then we have 3 weeks away in another country! (IC don't act up on me now...)

Also, we found out at closing (looking through all the official paperwork) that a long time ago, unbeknownst to us or the neighbors, like in the 60's, before there were even houses on the property, the property lines were moved by a gas company digging, because when they were done, the fence got put up between the properties and now our neighbors have a whole corner of our property on their side of the fence. So what are we supposed to do now? Walk up and say "Hi, we're your new neighbors, now we are going to move the fence and take part of what you thought was your land but is really ours?" I don't think that will go down too well but we have to get this fixed somehow....Any advice to a new homeowner?

We went out for a celabratory dinner last night and the resturant made me "special" garlic cream sauce without lemon for my seafood pasta, which I am also grateful about.... :kissing:

Congrats on your new house. I don't know for sure how I would handle the property line business, but if it is your property you are entitled to use it. You may have to have an attroney or someone get involved to prove where the property lines are and the fact that you had all this surveying etc. just done with the house sale should help you there.

lol What a lot to deal with at once. :grouphug: Congrats on the vacation and the new house!!

We moved into to our home over a year ago and the property line turned out to be a bit different then our neighbors thought....we just went and did what we wanted to our property and it all worked out ok. Our neighbor that had some things on our property was easy to work with and we get a long great now....I recommend not stressing too much about it and just talk about it.

Enjoy your vacation and your new home!!!!! I will say a prayer that IC doesn't attack during this busy time.

Congratulations on the new home! How wonderful. Enjoy your trip and come home ready to get settled in. It will be great. As for the property lines dispute, I pray that it will be settled easily. Blessings to all of you!

I will never, ever forget the feeling I had when we walked into our house back in 1996 when it was finally really ours. Not a tour through or anything - we finally owned it. WONDERFUL empowering feeling. It's actually one of the best feelings I've had in my life. Good for you. :kissing:

Congratulations on your new home...I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and I hope you make many happy memories there! Also, have a blast on your trip - sounds great!!

I hope you don't have a problem with your property line situation - in some states if the property has been tended by another under the assumption that it is theirs, it becomes theirs by usage in time. You'll have to check with an attorney for your state's regulations. If it turns out that the property passes over to your neighbor, be sure to correct the acreage records so that you are not paying taxes on the real estate! Ah yes, this is where lawyers make their money...

Good luck.

Congratulations on your new house. It will all work itself out. You will know you are doing the right thing the first time you sleep in YOUR house. We bought ours in July. IT FEELS GREAT. You IC will probably be happier when you are settled in.

Congratulations on your new home, I hope you will have many happy years there! We just bought our first home this summer, too - so I know the feeling well! Unfortunately for us we will have to move in 2-3 years probably (military) so it's a bittersweet feeling for us, but you enjoy things while you can...

I hope your trip goes well, too, I am so happy for you, what a cool thing to be able to visit England! Be sure to check out the Boots line of cosmetics (if you like makeup), they have some fabulous stuff and it's mostly not available in the U.S. (I did hear that they were doing some market research in one city in the U.S., to see if their stuff would sell here - oh I can't wait until it's available here in the U.S.! I remember getting some makeup when I was a teenager in the late 70's when I visited London, and I loved it - used it all up - then was bummed when I realized I could never get any more of it...)

Anyway I hope this summer will be filled with happiness for you! And the coming years too!

Blessings, Lori

P.S. I just looked up the Boots #7 line and went to their home and found out, they are going to be selling stuff in the U.S. starting in October! Hurrah! I'm going to be buying some new makeup this fall, I can see, LOL! Seriously it's a big bummer to fall in love with a cosmetic line and then find out you can't get any more of it when it runs out :(

Blessings, Lori

Dear Lori I have been playing around with makeup as well. I left my masscara and eye shadow on last night and I looked like a racoon this morning. I never really got into makeup that much when I was younger. I have allergies and a lot of people said I looked better without it. I still wore mascara, blush and lipstick but I never did my eyes. I am having a lot of fun with it now that my children are older. I want to go today and get another eyeshadow that would go well with a lot of my clothes this summer. Hope you have a great day
