anyone ever NOT flare from novacaine/lidocaine?

I couldn't find the right spot to post this... but I have a general question. I have to have a procedure done near my cheek on my face, and the doctor uses lidocaine to numb the area with epinephrine. He says it is a small amount to help prevent excess bleeding, but I am very nervous about using the epenephrine. They CAN use it without, but he said the bruising will be much more noticeable. Has anyone EVER not had a reaction to novacaine/lidocaine with epenephrine in it? Thanks for any answers. liz

No reaction to novacaine for me so far. Never had the lidocaine with epenephrine. Hope this helps.

the injection will probably only be in the subcutaneous layers of skin (just beneath the surface) and shouldn't have any effect except, as you said, prevent excess bleeding. It isn't like when you get ephedrine into your system and it makes your heart race...it's a tiny percentage that is used for those procedures. Should be fine!

I use lidocaine often without any problems...as do many of us....wish I could answer your question more exactly. Let us know how it goes!
