I just started Ph Control today and so far I like it very much....The difference between this and prelief is that you take this on a regular basis, and it is extended release. Prelief is just taken when you are eating to neutralize the immediate acids. I like them both and wonder if it is bad to take both of them or if I will now have to choose between them....Anyone have an opinion? Also....Can prelief be used with Tums?

Dear Massagedoula:

There is no reason that Prelief and anything whatever cannot be taken together unless you are not supposed to have calcium or phosphorus.

Are you familiar with the Ph Control product that I am using? It is also a calcium based product. My concern is that it would be too much calcium, but if you say that it is safe then I will try it!
Thanks,
Emily

I do not know how much calcium is actually in Ph Control or speak for its safety. I suggest you contact them.

Each Prelief tablet contains 65 mg of elemental calcium as calcium glycerophosphate. The tablets also contain 0.025% magnesium stearate as a processing aid.

One Prelief tablet supplies 6% (65 mg) of the FDA Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) for calcium and 5% (50 mg ) of the FDA RDI for phosphorus. No sodium, no aluminum, no sugar, no potassium.

I hope this is helpful.....

I called Ph Control and they said that it was fine to take prelief and Ph Control together. They said that the Ph Control would help the prelief work better!? I don't know how that would work, do you have any idea, Betty?

Emily:

I have no idea how that would work either, but if they said it is fine, I would have to assume that it is okay to take both.

I hope you all have good luck with PH control. I took it for awhile and didn't notice a big difference. I'm still trying to figure out this urine PH thing. I could be flaring and the PH is alkaline, not acid so why would I take something like PH control or Prelief to make it more alkaline. Has anyone actually tested their urine for PH?

Massagadoula,

how are you doing on the PH Control?

I amthining of getting it but am concerned about the potassium in it. does it bother you?
I think there is a small amount in there.
Has anyone used Tamer. I think it has even less acid.
I think the prelief was starting to bother me....I'm pretty sure it was the phosphate in it that I am sensitive to.

thanks,

Hi
Just took tonite PH control and tamer in green tea to avoid that nasty green tea feeling. (I also had green tea ice cream). I have about 1000 pkges of tamer because once they had a sale. Sometime I don't react to a food or drink rite away - like I have to drink it for several days and then whamo.

I was looking into the website for PH Control Http://www.phsciences.com/products/ph_relief.asp.

It looks like the PH Relief is extended release and not the PH Control.

Am I looking at this correctly?

I've been using Prelief and I think the extended release would be helpful.

I just want to make sure I get the right stuff. Can you buy this stores or only on-line?

Bhonas - I ordered PH Control ( I don't get the feeling its in stores) and its supposed to bypass the stomach (not controlling stomache acid) and release its alkalinzing substance in the intestines so it goes I quess thru the bloodstream to the bladder. They also sent me a sample of PH choice which you sprinkle on things (like Prelief) I guess. I don't know about the PH relief. I really don't think this stuff makes a big difference with me, but seems to with others. I had a streak where I could tolerate this Puroroast coffee with Tamer (their old product) but I wouldn't dare now since I think I have a UTI.

I am afraid to try control PH because of the potassium....anyone have have any luck with it.
I started reacting to something in the prelief. As soon as I stopped taking it with meals...I had less bladder pain. hhhhmmmmmmmmm

I stopped it about a month ago and haven't gone back to it. I would like, however to go on something to help reduce acidity.

I snuck in a LITTLE BIT of a home grown tomatoe ( i thought homegrown was less acidic and acceptable) 2 nights ago and was in pain about and hour or two later and well into the next day. Maybe the conrol PH would have helped that.

who knows,

mel

Just when I thought I was getting things figured out, I find out that I don't know as much about all this as I thought. I've started having my mom take Prelief with all of her meals...even though she is also on the IC diet. She sometimes forgets what she shouldn't eat, so the Prelief has been a great help. Now, I'm seeing posts about PH Control or PH Relief...and something called Tamer. From what I can tell by all the posts, they all seem to work differently for different people. Should I be concerned about mom taking the Prelief for prolonged periods of time?? As long as she follows the diet, the IC seems to be under control. I just thought she could continue taking it indefinitely...am I wrong?

Dear Debkins 346:

Prelief is made from an FDA Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) dietary supplement ingredient and is also listed as a food ingredient in the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC).

There are no use limitations except for people who have been advised by their physician not to take calcium, phosphorus or glycerin/glycerol.

Each Prelief tablet contains 65 mg of elemental calcium as calcium glycerophosphate. The tablets also contain 0.025% magnesium stearate as a processing aid.

Our recommended dosage is to take at least 2 tablets with each meal and snack.
