For me the worst food trigger of all is MSG and BHT... The stuff hates me. :cussing:

The only food that ever made me feel worse was some jalapeņo juice... I was having pizza with a friend and it was a half in half. My half had no sauce and plain cheese with spinach. On his side he had jalapeņo peppers and I believe I tiny amount swam its way over to my side. DEAR GOD that was a true horror show the next morning!

Anyone else like to share their worst food nightmares?

Soda pop, coffee, tomato, citrus anything, garlic. I don't like jalapenos so that's not even tempting.

I have not ventured out too much in trying new foods, but I found out very quickly that plain oatmeal, of all things, is a huge trigger for me. Within about 4 hours of eating it I was in horrible pain. I even tried it again 6 months later to make sure it was the oatmeal.....I only ate about 1/4 cup.....a very small amount....and yup, 4 hours later I was flaring big time!

Watermelon!!! (I am so sad about this.) bananas, tofu/soy, black/red/white pepper, and whatever hidden ingredient was in the panini I ate today! :(

Oh, and anything with caffene...

Sometimes I eat food that generally doesn't cause any problems and I'll flare and sometimes I'll eat trigger food and nothing will happen...
I guess my bladder just doesn't want anything passing through it, at times, and other times it goes into a semi-remission for a few hours

But back to my major triggers, that I've tried:
*Nutella (worst!)
*McDonalds ANYthing
*Milk
*Any fruit, except for blueberries
*Soda
*Tea
*Chocolate ice cream :(

Tomato sauce doesn't bug me anymore thanks to Prelief :)

I had some soft serve vanilla ice cream the other day and I thought it would be just fine..
NOT.!!
What would be in this to cause a flair to get worse?

wheat, refined sugar, eggs and dairy.

Hi,
What do you all eat for breakfast?? I have such a hard time with trying to eat
healthy and following the ic diet. I also have vulvodynia so i try to follow the
low oxalate diet but it's tough because they don't agree on the same foods. The
ic diet says a particular food is bad and then the low oxalate diet says i could
eat the food. There's practically nothing left to eat.

I try to eat oatmeal, but i think that bother's me, too. I can't eat too many eggs
because i have high cholesterol. I have food allergies to wheat, milk, chocolate
and many other things. Plus all the fruits are off limits except pears and i
sometimes think they bother me. As for blueberries, i did try them and went into
a flare because they are high in oxalates.
My dr said to eat whole grains and not white flour, but that's the only thing i can
eat that doesn't bother me. It's so frustrating!! I wish i could drink something
other than WATER.. i'm am so sick of it. I wish i could have something else.

I'm sure everyone out there can relate to how i feel. Any suggestions??
Also, what is the best vitamin to take??

Best,
Steff

White wine, Marganitas (all the stuff I like, of course) I haven't had any citrus fruit for over a year now. Regular coffee is a big one, or anything with cafffeine, like chocolate, and some pops. Anything that tastes tart, or sweet and sour (again, stuff I crave).

Breakfast cereals do not bother me so that's generally what I eat. On Sunday, my husband makes pancakes with Bisquick and that's fine too.

lots of things trigger flares for me. but the absolute worst is diet coke. :( and i like diet coke. :( sometimes i can put a little salt into it, and it helps. but not always. it's really bad for me if it's a fountain drink or out of a can. if it's in a plastic bottle, the pain isn't as bad. what's up with that? :?

i'm going to try the diet coke with splenda to see if it causes a flare. i hope not.

Soda, milk (organic seems to be ok), and MSG are things I still try to consume that don't always agree with me. Other things like orange juice & alcohol, I don't even attempt to try anymore. Cheerios used to be a big trigger for me and I've not tried them again but rice krispies and corn flakes seem to be ok. I can drink decaffeinated coffee and tea now with no problem. I can handle things in moderation now that I used to couldn't handle at all.

I'm not too diet sensetive for some reason. As long as I stay away from diuretics like alcohol (I'm too young anyway! shh) and caffeine, I do okay. Lately, though, I've been taking either Tums or Prelief with every meal anyway, just to be on the safe side.

For me it is strawberries, blackberries, MSG, red sauce (so sad, I miss my pasta and pizza) cherries-basically any fruit but pears and, believe it or not, peaches.

Tea is the only sure trigger that I have. I can eat pizza - but then there's reflux! Diet colas sometimes bother me, but not always. Hot stuff does sometimes, too.

strawberries seem to be the worst--and they're my favorite fruit! i have to stay away altogether or I really pay for it. tomato sauce, vinegar, and cranberry juice really hurt. it seems like there's a short list of foods that affect most ICers, or many of them. I just wonder why some people can have strawberries, but not me! haha :bonk:
