CNN has had non-stop coverage of the big storm you guys in the South are getting. Is anyone on this board anywhere near the worst of it, and is everyone OK? I have a co-worker who just traveled to new Orleans this week for a visit with her family there :hmm: Keep us posted and our prayers are with you!

Here in North Carolina, we're doing well... Dennis is going to pass west of us, actually through Memphis, where I used to live. We DID, however, have problems with remnants of Cindy (tornadoes, severe T-storms, etc) but we are okay -- no damage.
I also hope everyone in the path of Dennis is warm and safe somewhere -- please log on and let us know you're okay as soon as you can.... :grouphug:

Hello from Memphis :elvis: ...
We have been having rain all day, but nothing like what was predicted. It was forecasted that we would get between 4 to 7 inches. As of 11:00am, we had less than 1 inch. This rain is a very gentle, soaking kind of rain and doing the yards, trees, gardens and crops a lot of good. We have been having drought conditions here. Looks like Dennis is actually doing us some good. :woohoo: We are supposed to have rain through Wednesday. Hopefully that means no more drought.
The winds were supposed to be sustained at 25 to 40 mph. They have not been that hard. Sorta breezy, but nothing like what we were told to expect.
All in all, we here in Memphis have been most fortunate.
I have heard that Dennis was at Category 2 when it hit land. It had lessened in strength by that time. That is still bad for the ones in its path, though. I do hope everyone is okay.

Lower Alabama here. We were really lucky!! Within a few hours of it hitting land, we were on our way home. I expected the power to be out but the lights didn't even blink! We live about an hour north of Gulf Shores and were expecting the worse. We are truly blessed.
