I have the InterStim implant. This is a HUGE step to take. What treatments have you tried? I would suggest asking your Urologist for the phone numbers of patients who have had failures and successes...you could call them and ask for their personal experiences, if they are willing to chat.
Also if you check the patient stories here, there will be a few with their experiences, and also please check the InterStim boards.
The InterStim is a BIG STEP...it's not something to take lightly. The success stories are great, but the failures and complications are devastating. You will hear many diverse opinions about the stimulator, but I URGE YOU to do factual research and not go on the opinions of others.
Lastly, please be sure that you have absolutely exhausted all options of treatment before considering this, and please note that it is NOT FOR PAIN!
Good luck,
Jess

I also have the Interstim and agree with Jess that it is a huge decision to make and all medications should be tried before hand. Please research and take your time if this is something you are thinking about. I have had tremendous luck with it, but others have not. All of our opions are so different on the Interstim. It really is a personal choice and only one that should be made by you and you alone.

I also agree with Jess and Stasny. Like them I to have the Interstim. The Interstim on here at times can get very heated cuz like Stasny said we all have our own opions on it and this decision needs to be yours. I would talk to your drs patients who have done this to see what his ratio is. Also make sure that if something goes wrong down the line he will still treat you and be there for you if it happens. I had this happen to me and its not fun trying to find another dr experienced with the Interstim. Find a dr very knowledgeable in it. And do your research. You can find many topics on this web site about it. All other avenues with medications and treatments do need to be tried before this one. I wish you luck in your decision....

I don't know a lot about the interstim but what i do know is IT'S NOT FOR PAIN! some do get some relief with there pain, but its not ment to help pain.
I did look into it once when i was going to the pain clinic. that is the first thing i found out it wasn't for pain, and that was the reason i wanted it. Thank's to these honest people here I knew it wasn't for me.
if your wanting it for other reason urg/freg. which the device is ment for. then please research every information you can get your hands on. These ladies gave you great advice already.
I started asking question and didn't just go by ones advice. There is some scary stories about the insterstim but there is also some great stories too. Please don't let anyone scare you out of doing this or don't let someone talk you into it this is a personal chose Only YOU can make.
sadly some doctor force this device on some people I know one person personally that was made to under go the trail or the doctor wouldn't help her no more. this wasn't right. and for her it was a nightmare Just the trail its self. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND RESEARCH EVERYTHING!!!!
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda
