Since my diagnosis, and my first hydrodistension, I have noticed my abdomen is more distended that usual. I have lost weight from all the stress, but my tummy just sticks out there! I can't figure it out? I'm not gassy or constipated. It especially happens after I eat.
Do any of you have this? Thanks
I do the same thing. I think it's a part of the wonders of IC...oh joy

My lower abdomen is swollen right now because I had to stop pain meds and pyruiduim prior to my procedure on Friday. It is from having Ic.

The majority of us have IBS also....I think that has a lot to do with it as well as the IC.

My stomach feels like I have swallowed a Basketball. It is also Extremely sore to the touch! Although my husband & my kids say no, I feel like I have put on 20lbs, if not more. My IC & IBS & Vulvadynia are flared right now!

It's just strange, cuz I didn't have this before my surgery (hydro/cysto and laparoscopy). The surgery was over 1 month ago, so I doubt if I'll swollen from the surgery. I feel like I'm pregnant. My 7 year old son rubbed my tummy last night and asked if I had a baby in there?!?!? LOL~!

I can only answer with my uro had said the effects from a cysto/hydro (he meant things like pain) could bother ppl up to 6 wks, I dont know if that would include the belly, but if you think it would be a good idea, call your uro and see what they say

Does anyone have any suggestions or things that have worked for them to reduce it? It's maddening! :headbang:

Baking soda and or milk of magnesia, I still think a lot of the bloating is IBS on top of the IC! Sometimes I just go with it, I live in pajama bottoms most of the time with usually a comfy loose top.....hey, its not like I'm going anywhere!

Yeah.., IC belly! NO fun! I said even if I lost more weight I just look like a starving person...,Sorry to hear you were diagnoised was praying for you that it was not IC...,I do notice it is much worse when I flare...,
My husband thinks I should do sit ups:( I'm sure that would help my IC :biglaugh: Wish i had a better answer! I do notice it's better a few days after the steriod instill, proabably just less inflammation!

Hey Shelly! Long time no see! I've been wondering how you were doing!
I read from one of the doctor interviews here on this website that Hydroxyzine helps with the bloating. Since I went off all my meds, and the bloating started after that, maybe I'll go back on the hyrdoxyzine. I just thought it was from the surgery, but maybe it's cuz I went off the meds. It probably wouldn't hurt to do a few situps too!
Thanks for your posts everyone.

Yep the IC belly is normal for us. I did not know that the Hydroxyzine could help with that. I hope you feel better soon....
