Does anyone here have asthma ? If so do the inhaler meds effect it? I'm trying to track this down or track down a flare to something I might have eaten lately. All info helpful to me.

I have asthma that is triggered by excercise and use an albuterol inhaler. I have used it since being diagnosed with IC and I did not have a "noticeable" resulting flare.

I've had asthma for 10 years now ... and luckily have that under control right now. I don't have a problem with my albueterol inhaler or the nebuelizer affecting my IC flare-ups. My asthma triggers are allergies, exercise, weather (too hot or too cold), upper respiratory infections, and of course, stress.

I have asthma for 24 years now :(. It is triggered by weather, allergies, some foods, stress, colds (infections) etc.
I'm in the process of of finding out of I do have IC, so I really can't answer your post.
So far though, I think the prednesidone is the only one that affects the IC (at least what I have found out). The inhalers don't bother it. (thankfully).
Take care,
Amy

Good. Thank you everyone for giving me hope. The IC is just being IC then I guess.

I to have found that inhalers did not aggrevate my IC. But I do find that when my allergies act up so does my asthma and my IC.

I have asthma too and don't find my inhaler gives me a problem. Some IC patients are sensitive to them, but I'm lucky in that I can use it if necessary!!! :)

Hey Songbird:
I have had asthma for over 10+ years now and I am on:
Accolate
Q-var 80 (preventative inhaler)
Foradil (preventative spin inhaler)
Albuteral PRN
Xopenex and Albuteral via Nebulizer PRN
as well as:
Verapamil (for tachycardia)
and then the med's for the IC:
Amatryptiline and Benedryl (working up to Atarax)
(Had to quit taking Elmiron... I started losing my hair)
Soma (muscle relaxant that REALLY helps me with my flares)
So far with all of those meds, I have found that none cause me any flares.
Good luck finding out what is causing yours. :)

By the way TBOkay: what part of illinois are you from? I grew up in Orland Park and still have a lot of family in Northern Illinois and Central Illinois!
Bye for now,

Hello Songbird!
I was diagnosed w/ asthma long before the IC. I take 2 inhalers...one is Advair, and one is albuterol, and neither seem to bother my Ic, but Maybe you should call or go to the doc, and see if he thinks that the inhalers are reacting somehow with your IC. I hope you are feeling well otherwise. Wishing you the very best!! Sheri G :grouphug:

Thanks everyone. I know know it's not the inhalers, the Q Var or the Albuterol. It's just IC being IC. It doesn't need any reason to bother me. Then other times I am ok but IC makes its presence known often.
