Vulvar Vestibulitis Flareup?

What causes it? I was sitting here, minding my own business, when all of a sudden I get that painful burn, just sitting, standing, laying, I'm almost in tears. Does it flare up before periods? I don't know what happened, I can't figure this out???

I don't know for sure if I have volvodynia, but my symptoms match. The day or two before my period was terrible. When I had my period, I noticed the burning died down quite a bit. It was still there, but it wasn't as bad. It seems that when I use a pad, the flow actually makes the burning feeling better. Tampons annoy, especially when I don't get them in high enough.

Thanks for replying, Classics. :) I can't wear tampons anyhow, so that's not a problem, but I am sick of this! :( It is very painful.

yes, yes, yes, right before my period is always the absolute worst with relief coming after I start.
