When I get urethral burning I do my best to drink more water than usual. Today this backfired on me and I got a retention type of flare with burning, pain and pressure. I asked my urologist if he could think of something besides the meds that turn urine oringe or blue as they hurt my stomach and can cause horrible retention. I'd like to hear other things that are helping people.
All responses much appreciated.
You all are in my prayers,

When burning isn't from a UTI it is often from acidic urine or yeast infections......or pfd.

For me yeast infections and sex are my burning triggers....when it is sex it is pfd flare. Do you have PFD? Figuring out the cause of the burning makes it a lot easier to treat.
There are ph tests available in the IC store to help you figure out if your urine is highly acidic.

I hope that helps you.

The only other thing I can think of right off is baking soda & water, Prelief or Tums.

I hate that burning! Hope you get this under control soon!

For me the continuous use of a medium level estrogen birth control pill (Necon 1/35) has mostly stopped that symptom. Some women flare less on the pill, some flare more & some find that different types of pill affect them differently. So, unfortunately there's no pattern of what is successful. But, that's what's worked for me.

My primary tried Prosed DS - its a blue urine pill. It would help with my burning but unfortunately it would also give me migraines. I decided burning is better than a migraine.
I tried something generic at Walgreens - I think it was Uristat - but again it turns urine bright orange.
If you find something that works and no (or minimal) side effects, let me know!
