blood in urine after intense workout

any idea what can cause this? i work out rather hard about 4-6 days a week. friday was a really hard one, and afterward, i had blood in my urine. i've not gone back to my workout since because i'm also supposed to be resting a torn ab muscle. but what could cause the blood? i'm worried that when i do go back in a week or two, it will happen again. it happened a bit last summer when i would get overheated during workouts. but the urologist couldn't find a cause. he just commented that i always have blood in my urine (yes, i do, but i rarely see it, and i never see this much). :rolleyes: he's not helpful at all. i think he's a little :loco: sometimes.

if you have any ideas, i'd love to hear them. i'm seeing my ob/gyn in august, and he seems to know more about my bladder than the urol. so i'm definitely going to ask him. but if there's something i can do in the meantime, i'd like to be doing it. kwim?

I too have had the same problem when I work out alot or if I get really stressed out I will have lots of blood in my urine. When I asked my uro about it he told me that it is just a bladder spasm and if it happens to take pyridum (I don't know if I spelled that right). Also he said if I feel too overwhelmed to stop and take a rest and as for working out don't overwork your body. I just cut down on how much I work out, I guess what it all comes down to is knowing your limits. I hope that helped you out some!
