What does the tens unit do? My daughter has awful pressure and can't sleep at night. She has tried ativan and percocet but that is not helping. She doesn't want to do elavil because of the weight gain but might have too.

Can you sleep with the tens unit?

Thank you for any replies.

THe tens sends out little pulses. I have had one for 7 years now and have it on 24/7. It is very easy to sleep with on. At first I was worried I would break it if I slept on it but it won't. Mine I use for pain so not sure if it would work for the pressure but would be a good thing to try for it. Before the tens I could not sleep much at all. Was always on and off with the hydroxyzine. Now with both I can sleep for 3 hours staright. I have my tens set on 3 all the time (unless the pain is bad then I turn it up). It is set so I don't feel it.

How wonderful that you can sleep while using your TENS unit. I have an interferential unit and love using it but it works in 20 minute segments. I'd lose sleep if I used it at night! During the daytime though it works great! Have had it since December and it has made a big difference for me.

Where do you place the pads. My husband has a TENS unit and I am gonna try it. No one has mentioned one to me but I am gonna do this on my own. I need to try to relieve the pain. It even hurts now when I am sitting up or hit a bump in the road. I could cry. Someone please tell me how to place the pads.

I place my electrodes this way. Two on my front at the bottom and two on my back at the top of the pelvic area. Hope I explain this next part so you can get the picture. In front I place a negative electrode (black connector) on my left side at the bottom near the pubic area and I place a positive electrode (red connector) on my right side at the bottom near the pubic area. On my back I place the black connector on the left side as well and the red connector on the right in the area that I would describe as a "dimple" in my lower back area. That way the current makes an X in my pelvic area and gives great relief throughout the area. I hope this helps you. If you can't understand this, I guess I won't be surprised but I've tried to tell you as best as I am able with words. If you need to, please pm me and ask more questions.
Blessings to you and a pain free time!
