Anyway here is what she wrote in her blog.

Sunday, I woke up @10 a.m., and by noon, I was out of the house, and at the clinic to get my RX. I had to see the doctor b/c last time he didn't give me any refills on my thyroid medicine. Anyhow, I told him how I've been feeling, and what I needed (allergy medicine, thyroid, diabetes, asthma, my herniated disc, and a mental health screening). I got the diabetes & thyroid, but none of the other things. They don't have allergy or asthma medicine (at least one I'm not allergic to [albuterol]). For the mental health screening, he said he'd refer me to the place I've already called & been refused health care due to the fact I cannot pay. I told him about my back. He asked a stupid question, "How do you know? How were you diagnosed?" I said I had an MRI in April, and I guess he didn't believe I'm hurt, because he pulled on my legs!

Not too long afterward, when I arrived home, I had to go to the hospital, where I WAS NOT TREATED! R took me up there after I put a pot roast on (2 lb--didn't take but an hour or so to cook).

I was screaming bloody murder when I had to get in the back seat to lay down. I was in serious pain!

So we get there, get checked in, and I was put on fast track so I wouldn't have to wait. I rated my pain a 7 or 8 out of 10.

Dr. blank blank said he doesn't treat chronic pain, that I need to see my physician for that care. I told him before he even said that, and afterward, that they will not see me and I do not have the money to pay. I cried many times while waiting on them to take my personal information, and after the doctor left the room. I was angry then, and I'm angry now. I'm sick of people treating me like I'm a piece of crap, or like I'm lying!! It doesn't make any sense. The nurse came back in and said they couldn't treat me, unless I'm bleeding. I told R in the car, while we were driving home, to give me a knife. We'll see if they'll treat me then!!!

We're supposed to see my mom for the 4 of July. If we go, I'm going to the hospital there if I'm hurting as bad as I was. I know they'll do SOMETHING other than giving me TYLENOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which reminds me, that prick asked me "Have you taken any tylenol, aleve?" I said "No, they do not help. I took those before seeing my doctor when I was in pain." (I seen my doctor before, when my mom had the $$ to pay--she doesn't have a job, so no $$).

I'll say a prayer for her. I do believe in the power of prayer.

I will also say a prayer for her. Money are not the e.r shouldn't had refused to see her. (they must treat someone in pain or any type of medicial treatment in my state if you have the means to pay or not!)
has your cousin tried to sign up for medicaid yet? this could be helpful to her.
there is a pat. bill of rights maybe you should copy it and give it to her. i think the only state that is diff in is CA.
I wish her all the luck in the world to find the answers she needs to feel better and most importantly stop suffering.
God bless her soul.

Angela, your case sounded just like several of my trips to the er,I can remember the first time, that I thought that I had a bladder infection so off to the er we go,for this young er doctor to tell me that there was"nt anything wrong with me,to never come back to his er hospital again! Well several days later my sister took me that time, and thank goodness it was a woman doctor on call, she told us it was"nt a bladder infection, but there was surely something wrong with me,and I needed to see a uro,So thats what I did,and he did all the test that they do to prove what I did have wrong.I did"nt know what the world the doctor said to me at first, because I'm like, what is IC?I just did"nt know that this is what I was going to face for the rest of my life, but it is and with friends and gods help,I"ll make it through it somehow, and I do hope everything works out for you also.

Angel,
I will keep your cousin ( and you ) in my prayers. It angers me to no end when I hear about people who are treated like that by docs/ ERs. I worked in a leve 1 trauma center ER for 10 years, and I guess I was just lucky, cuz most of the docs there were very comasionate unless the person in question was on our "frequent flyer" rolodex. Those are the people who come often, with a zillion different pain stories and you can tell they are seeking.
Your poor cousin, I agree with her that if she goes to see her mom over the holiday weekend, she should try a different ER. Again, I will keep you all in my prayers. Hugs to you both! :grouphug: Sheri G
